This prompt got me laughing, but then it's love month, at least; that's the common saying. I had no choice but to agree because I've been seeing different posts inviting people to marriage and relationship seminars. February 14 is a significant day in the month of February in Nigeria. I'm sure by now everyone is looking forward to this day, but is it not just like any other day? In my opinion, I believe there is no specific time to show love to our loved ones. There should be a show of love at every opportunity we get; that is one way to keep the bond strong.
Searching through my Valentine's experience archive, I don't have any of the best experiences, or should I say I don't celebrate Valentine's. I have not had the opportunity to have this relationship where there is a particular celebration on Valentine's Day. In this generation, there are a lot of misconceptions about Valentine's. Gen Z has taken it offboard to be a day where lovers meet and mess around, but no, Valentine's Day isn't just for lovers. To me, it is a day to show love to people around you, bless the less privileged, and put a smile on someone's face. It is a day to appreciate every intentional person in one's life who has, one way or another, contributed to one's success story.
Valentine's Day isn't just about monetary gifting or sharing of roses, as it is common here. They say the rose is a symbol of love, so many give out roses, both real and fake ones. There are several ways one can express love to people in one's life. Ways such as giving them advice, attention, time, material gifts, and many more. Well, as for the question, this year, Valentine's wouldn't be any different as I'm not expecting any gift from anyone; instead, it will be a show of love for myself. Sometimes finding happiness in little things matters a lot, so instead of brooding and wishing I was someone's valentine, I will be my valentine, take myself on a date, and have a happy time probably with my friend because I know she would do the same.
If there is a Valentine's Day I wish for someday, the celebration would be in two categories. The first would be for me to show love to the less privileged, having enough resources, be it food or other materials that make life easy. Share it with people to put a smile on their faces because it ain't easy out there, I can tell. The second category would be to celebrate with the man that makes my heart bubble, not the one that there isn't an assurance of where we are heading together, please, I mean the man who is my partner. Booking a reservation just for the two of us in a nice restaurant with good food please, very important, well decorated in a serene environment. After that, I showered him with lots of gifts and surprised him in a big way that he did not see coming. I would love to see that surprised look on his face.
But for now, in the little way that I can, I will try my best to make those around me happy and also make myself happy. It's a season of love, so I'm letting the love flow from me to everyone. Happy Valentine's Day in advance friends.
Thanks for your time and your comments will be appreciated.

I love your perspective about Valentine and it's times people understand the real purpose of the celebration. Showing love shouldn't be about intimacy only, there are people around us who deserve love and it's good when we can spread love as we should.
Thanks for participating in the HN weekly prompt, happy valentine in advance.
