Have you ever been in a situation where you are the only one who doesn't know a particular song among a group of singers?
Well that is your girl right here and it was my quest to free myself from a seemingly disgrace at my workplace that led me to discovering this Christmas song.
It was the end of the year party at my place of work. Then my boss asked me to organize a "mini choir" amongst the children and also teach them some Christmas songs. To be honest, my Christmas song library only consisted of two songs which are "Feliz Navidad"* and "Jingle bells". So I was at a loss on how to go about teaching them.
Thankfully, my other colleagues offered some assistance with the Christmas song and during one of the rehearsals, they raised a song called 12 days of Christmas . I was at a loss cos I had not heard the song prior to that day and so my dumb founded expression left everyone amused.
Not wanting to be caught red handed, I quickly picked up my phone, opened #Youtube and searched for the song. Unexpectedly, the song was very interesting that I could not stop listening to it.
I spent two whole days listening to that "one" Christmas song until it finally stuck to my brain. Now I can sing it without a blunder. I really like how the song progresses from day one to day twelve, with a countdown from a higher number to lower numbers until it gets to day one.
Their presentation for the school Christmas party was marvelous. Everyone joined in to sing which made it so much fun. I admit that despite not being a very emotional person, i couldn't stop the tears of happiness that flowed down my cheeks. It was a momentum celebration and I can never forget it.
Let me share the lyrics of the song below..
On the second day of Christmas,
my true love gave to me
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the third day of Christmas,
my true love gave to me
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the fourth day of Christmas,
my true love gave to me
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.
On the fifth day of Christmas,
my true love gave to me
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree....
So far , 12 days of Christmas still remains my number one Christmas song. I play it anyday, anytime. I don't have to wait till it's Christmas even though its a Christmas themed song.
