Gifty Christmas

Every Christmas I made money. That was the story, not until I became an adult, I spend.

The thing is there is no Christmas without gift, don let anyone tell you otherwise. It's a time of giving, but at the end of every Christmas celebration I end up being broke.

Flat broke. It always the chinchin making for me, I really can't get enough of that stuff. At a point I even started with collective, cooperative contribution. Even at that I always wanted the chinchin to be the best.

Aside that the meat is another avenue to spend money. Living in the moment is pretty Denm good, but detrimental to people like me that make plans.

Let me walk you through the spending

We don't like red meat in my house so we go for chicken. And because it's not big and the family is large we buy a lot of those. Spending more with every increments. Then we add some fish for the family.

The next is the matter of chinchin. You know you can't give everyone rice, drink and meet, so we give chinchin and meat or fish. I really hope this year it will be possible. This one that flour don cost(pidgin English). Regardless we make it much so it can go round. And then some diabetes in the family don't take sugar so we buy honey for them.(They are telling me that diabetes also genetic related. I cast in bind lol).

Finally it's the drinks, mom prefers merinda and dad prefers Kunu(native Northern Nigeria drink) so we end of getting the two Available. When I say we, you should know what I am talking about. The second round comes with the new year celebration.

When all this is done we become broke. I am only thankful we don't take things on credit or owe that the end.

I can recall this year Christmas carol in my school, a teacher proposed a debate that didn't pull through. But the student practiced anyways. The topic was "is Christmas complete without giving" when the opposing side presented their point. I realized that there is no need for all those stress. I told mom and dad, they didn't buy the idea.

One thing I know is that I won't go broke again. If they insist on an elaborate Christmas this year, I would contribute the percentage that I can eat and be satisfied.

Christmas celebration lately has really become a do or die affair. If you won't go big, Don't go at all. Many people go the extra miles just to make it work. New clothes, food, and drinks, Some Christmas gift and others Christmas outing.
Are all this necessary.

I fell ashamed when I realized that I save from January to November, not for investment, but just for Christmas celebration. And still run broke at the end, what joy comes after then. The joy of not having anything in my account?
Luckily enough, no serious emergencies arise after all the spending.

I will need your advice on how to manage my spendings. Because I feel withdrawing from the family spending will cause problems.

I hope I didn't violate @hiveniaja rules. Thanks
