During the Christmas season or period, there's joy everywhere, the weather changes and the environment take a new look with different designs here and there from the banks to the filling stations to other firms and organizations. What of the beautification of the street by the government which is always a top notch. All these and many more embellished the Christmas season.
When talking about the Christmas celebration in my area, it's always full of fun and celebration with people putting on the usual white and red color to celebrate the reason for the season. Christmas which usually happened on the 25th day of every December is always preceded by funfair, with the father xmas coming al the way from Rome, gifting gift to young ones in the society.
In my area, all these used to start from the 1st of December every year. Now on the D day which is the 25th, it's always marked with celebration, eating and merriment. Also, cheers, gifting of gift and receiving of gift are the hallmarks of Christmas celebration.
But, are all these mentioned above enough to celebrate Christmas? No. To my own belief, christmas celebration is not about yourself and your family alone. It's not even about merriment or entertainment alone, but about people around us. So, this will lead me to a better way of celebrating Christmas, most especially in my own area. One thing I know about Christmas is celebration, which is the celebration of christ being born. But even in celebrating christ who has been made poor for us to be rich in his earthly ministry, are we not of the thought that while celebrating christmas, we must put the poor, the less privileged, the widows and widowers as the case may be and even the orphans into consideration. These and many more will be my talking points.

One of the better ways of celebrating Christmas to me is to be selfless while we are in the mood of celebration. What do I mean by this? Christmas celebration should not be give and take alone, and should not be about ourselves or maybe people we are connected to in the society. Being selfless as stated is by extending our hands of love to the less privileged in the society as we all know christ is love . So, in the mood of celebrating Christmas, visiting the orphanage's home should be our best belt. It should even be our priority. While dining and wining with our love ones. We should not forget the fatherless and motherless in the society who are the most in need of our loves and good in this season of celebration. We should visit them, rejoice with them and make their existence counts. That is what the season is preaching.

Also, another better way of celebrating Christmas is going to the prison to celebrate with the prisoners in the prison. These people are not well remembered in the society maybe because of the belief that they are criminals. Yes it might be so, but they should not be written off. Something food can still come out of them. We should not discard them after all, christ whom we are celebrating in one of his parables says, " there's a shepherd who abandoned the 99 sheeps and went ahead to look for one lost sheep." So, if indeed we are celebrating the birth of christ, we should go to the prison treat those people as part of us and celebrate with them. We can gift them things as well just to mark the Christmas celebration.

Still on the better way of celebrating Christmas, as the bible says we should be our brothers keeper. Let's also, celebrate with the less privileged, the widow and the widower among us, let's show them love, let's make them happy, let's celebrate with them and their children and families. By doing this, all these people will have a taste of Christmas and sense of belonging.
But if we are still doing it the normal way as we used to do it. That means we are not being selfless and we are only being selfish and not even propagating the purpose of celebrating the birth of Our lord Jesus Christ.
So, if there's one thing which is still the major thing I wish is taking out of the way we're celebrating our Christmas now, that should be our selfish attitude towards Christmas celebration and also, our give and take attitude. This give and take attitude is not good at all when it comes to Christmas celebration. Going to the orphanages, prison or celebrating with the less privileged and the widows may not give you something in return, but Christ whom we are celebrating says, " blessed are the merciful,.for they shall receive mercy."
How are you planning to celebrating your Christmas ? Please, celebrate with those categories of people I have mentioned above and this will surely bring about a better celebration.

Thanks for reading my post
This is very true.
Amidst all the merriment and celebrations, we are to remember the orphans, the prisoners, the widows, the less privileged and show them love and care.
It calls for selflessness.
Thank you so much for sharing 😊
