Before I start to write anything, let me say merry Christmas and happy new year in advance. As we celebrate this Christmas, may the reason for the season brings joy to our homes (Amen). Seriously Christmas has come and we must celebrate it. But in celebrating it, let's remember the less privileged and extend the love to the needy in the society. Once again, merry Christmas and happy new year in advance.
Back to the hivenaija prompt, as we are in the spirit of celebrating this year Christmas and the celebration even at its peak, plus the holiday tied with the celebration, seriously If I would like to choose where to celebrate my holiday with my wife and children, then that place will be my village. Though we are already at my village to celebrating the xmas and with that, after the xmas celebration, we will stay back for sometime to have our holiday with my family.

Christmas celebration in my village comes with merriment and funfair. So, having this nostalgic feelings as to how Christmas is being celebrated in my village, prompted me to going there with my family, so, as for them to have a taste of it and afterwards, enjoy the rest of our holiday there.
Though, we're in the village already celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and seriously, we are having fun overhere. Before now, I have to my wife and children stories about how Christmas is being celebrated in my village, where we celebrate in love and unity without any form of leaving others behind.
In my village in those days, while celebrating Christmas, every member of the village wine and dine together without any form of division, in my village during the Christmas celebration, there is no muslim or Christian even the traditional worshippers celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ with us. So, it's a communal celebration of the birth of Christ and the same still exist till date as being witnessed by my wife and children. So, I believe this will be in their memories for time to come.
So, staying back at the village to spend the rest of our holidays was born out of the fact of making my children to have a taste of a village life as experienced by me. Born and being bred in the city, my children have no idea of what the village life is all about. Well maybe they know little about the village life via their imagination through my story telling. But now at the village, they are now enjoying the village vibes of people going to the stream to take their bath, people going to the stream to fetch water, also, fetching of firewood from the forest to cook is another experience they have never witnessed, what of the hunters going for hunting and young children going to the river bank to catch fish.
Also, another thing I will like to show my children is the cocoa and plantation. Though, I have narrated how cocoa is being planted and the duration it takes to grow, but they've not seen it before. I also told them that the cocoa is used to produce chocolate. So, I will use the opportunity of the holiday to take them to the cocoa farm and eplore.
What of the plantain farm, I will also use the opportunity of this holiday to take them to the plantain farm, they've been eaten plantain and banana but thought it's a tuber crop, so, I will use this holiday to show them. How the sucker is being planted and harvested.
Another place I will take them to during this holiday period is the place where palm oil is being produced, though those people will not be available, but I will take them there to see for themselves.
All these and many more were what prompted me to taking them to the village to celebrate Christmas with grandpa and grandma. And seriously they are already enjoying themselves. Thank God, I have taught then how to speak our local language, this would have been a barrier towards everything going on in the village, but they are now mingling with the villagers in love.
I'm very sure after this there current exploration of the village life , they will still want more of this in years to come. In the next 3 to 4 days, the holiday will be over and we will back to the city to live our normal busy life, but till then, let's enjoy our stay.
