So, it’s been a while. And come to think of it, it’s actually been ages since I last sat in front of a TV to watch a movie. Not because we don’t have a TV—it’s still there, sitting in the living room like a forgotten king—but because, honestly, I just don’t need it anymore.
I have a PC. I have a smartphone. And those two? They’ve completely taken over my movie-watching life.
And let me tell you why.
1. My Devices = My Space
There’s just something about watching a movie on my own device that feels... right. I can pick my spot, curl up however I want, and not have to share the screen with anybody. No one’s there asking me to “pause for a sec” because they want to grab something from the kitchen. No one is trying to switch the channel midway because their show is about to start.
It’s just me, my device, and whatever movie I’m in the mood for. And honestly? That’s pure bliss.
Oh, and let’s not forget the ultimate bonus—headphones. Ever tried watching an action movie on full blast with your headphones in? The sound effects hit different. Every explosion, every little background sound, every whisper—it’s like I’m inside the movie. TVs can try, but they can’t compete.
2. Finding Movies is Just… Easier
Back when I used to rely on TV, I had to wait for movies to air. Or worse, scroll through endless channels, hoping I’d find something decent.
Now? If I feel like watching a movie, I just search for it. Stream it. Download it. Done.
And the choices? Endless. One minute I could be watching a sci-fi thriller, the next minute I’m deep into a rom-com, and before I know it, I’m watching a random documentary about how jellyfish are basically immortal. It’s a wild ride, and I love it.
TV schedules? Nope. Waiting for a movie to be aired? Couldn’t be me.
3. Portability is EVERYTHING
Look, unless I somehow develop super strength, I’m not carrying a whole TV around just because I want to watch a movie.
But my phone? My laptop? They go where I go.
If I’m at home, I can watch from my bed. If I’m outside chilling, I can watch from my phone. If I’m traveling, my entertainment moves with me.
TVs are just… stuck. And I don’t have time for that kind of commitment.
4. Pause, Rewind, Play—Whenever I Want
Another thing about watching on my devices? Control.
TVs? They don’t care. Once a movie starts airing, that’s it. You missed the first 10 minutes? Too bad. Commercial break just when things were getting intense? Sucks to be you.
But when I’m watching on my phone or laptop? I call the shots. I can pause if I need a break, rewind if I missed something, and even slow things down if I want to catch tiny details (yes, I do that sometimes).
I own the experience, and that’s exactly how I like it.
TVs Are Cool… But They’re Just Not for Me Anymore
Look, I’m not saying TVs are completely useless. They’re great for family movie nights, gaming, or when you just want a big screen experience.
But for me? My devices just make more sense. They fit my lifestyle better. They give me more options. And they let me enjoy movies my way.
So yeah, the TV? It’s there. But I’m good without it. 😌
