*** At least two civilians were wounded and some material losses were recorded as a result of the Israeli forces' aggression in the coastal town of Tartous in western Syria, 30 kilometers from the Lebanese border. "The Israeli enemy carried out an airstrike" at around 06H30 local time near the town of Al-Hamidiyah, a military source told the Syrian news agency SANA, identifying the targeted locations as poultry farms.
*** Norway will donate $1 billion to Ukraine for reconstruction and humanitarian purposes. The contribution will be used for humanitarian aid, reconstruction of the country and armaments. *** World oil prices could reach around $380 per barrel if Western countries apply new economic sanctions against Russia and impose price caps on its crude, Bloomberg reports citing analysts at financial conglomerate JPMorgan Chase & Co. According to experts, attempts by G7 countries to reduce Russia's revenues by limiting the amount of money it can get for each barrel it sells would force Moscow to take countermeasures. They warn that Moscow can afford to cut daily oil production by 5 million barrels without significantly damaging its own economy.
*** Byron Lagla, director of Biodiversity of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition of Ecuador, reported that between June 13 and 20 a total of 32 species were rescued, some of them from wildlife trafficking. The official told El Universo newspaper that, despite the difficulties caused by road blockades due to the national strike, which lasted from June 13 to 30, it was possible to rescue the animals. *** A team of researchers led by Northwestern University (USA) announced Thursday in a statement that it has developed a small, soft, flexible implant that 'cools' nerves and relieves pain on demand and without the use of drugs. The biocompatible, water-soluble device wraps gently around nerves to provide precise, targeted cooling that numbs them and blocks pain signals from reaching the brain, reads the new study, published in the journal Science.
*** Israel accuses the Ukrainian ambassador to Berlin of "misrepresenting historical facts and trivializing the Holocaust", following his remarks about Stepan Bandera. Andrei Melnik called the Nazi collaborator a "freedom fighter" and stressed that "there is no proof that Bandera's troops murdered hundreds of thousands of Jews".
*** The Texas State Board of Education (USA) rejected a proposal by a group of educators to move to talk about slavery in terms of 'involuntary relocation' in second grade classes. "The board, by unanimous agreement, directed the task force to review that specific language," the Texas state education agency's president, Keven Ellis, said in a statement issued Thursday.
