I say this because it was undeniable that Bill Clinton was a really charismatic guy and his policies weren't too extreme in any direction. I think that these were the years that there was far less vitriol thrown about when one side won and another didn't, and NC actually voted for the guy as well. I didn't vote for him, but when he won I was like "whatever!"
He recently visited Georgia and North Carolina and it was a pretty laid back affair with not much media presence behind it and I think this is because of the fact that Billy isn't necessarily someone that the Democrats want to make front and center as far as an endorsement is concerned. His scandals, whether real or not are things that people remember most about him and of course there is the very real suspicion and photographic evidence that he was pals with Jeffrey Epstein.
None of that really affects me a great deal but I have to say that I wasn't exactly angry when I found out that he was here because the days when Clinton was running against George Senior and Ross Perot, and later when he handily defeated Bob Dole, were times when politics were a lot more civil than they are now.

I don't know if I have ever seen a more pandering outfit than this one but then again, the average voter doesn't seem to be terribly intelligent anyway. Does his team think that people are going to see him wearing a farmer shirt and a camo hat and think "oh wow, he's one of us!" It wouldn't surprise me but it is a completely ridiculous outfit for him to have on and anyone with a slight amount of intelligence or just memory will be able to tell that this is not who he really is.
I'm not here to bitch about Bill pandering though or even that he is visiting. The Democrats are pulling out all of their arsenal to defeat Trump this election so I suppose this was something that was always going to happen, it was only a matter of time.
Bill did this on a "bus tour" as well and I can't help but laugh at that. They can afford airplanes, but want to appear as though they are far more modest than they really are even though everyone knows they are super-elite and would normally do this sort of thing via helicopter.
Unfortunately I feel as though the average voter could actually be swayed by this sort of thing but I also have to wonder what kind of a person would actually go to one of these things. There were rumors that when he visited a black church in Georgia, the church wasn't even full. That had to have been disappointing to them. He is promoting Harris of course and well, this is expected.
His presence here did remind me of how politics used to be a lot more "nice" back in the 90's. I recall some people that were really upset when Clinton won but they got over it in a week or two and then realized later that their lives hadn't changed very much. I was in my 20's so no matter what they did it wasn't going to affect me a great deal or if it did, I didn't notice it. I had already transitioned to voting for 3rd party candidates at that point and my life has been a lot better ever since.
Politics have become too "front and center" for people these days and I think we were a lot better off when the election was something that you just did and once the results came out you went on with your life. When did it all change to be such an all-encompassing thing I wonder? I think to me it was when George W won the election via the courts over the famous "hanging chad" incident in Florida. There were a lot of people pissed off that he won when it was initially announced that grifter Al Gore was the winner. From that point forward things got a bit more heated and I think it is undeniable that the presence of social media, which didn't exist at the time, is largely to blame for people getting so worked up over an election.
I wonder if we will ever be able to return to those days of civil elections. Sadly, I think not. This year we have 2 candidates that aren't the best or even close to the best possible. 1 of them got in there in an unprecedented way and if it wasn't for the immense hatred that a lot of people have for Donald Trump, she would get absolutely destroyed in an election just like she did in the primaries. There is a very real chance that she could end up being President as well and unlike a lot of the other people out there, I don't really think that it is going to make very much difference which one of them wins because now we have entered a new era of politics where any decision made by either side is almost immediately struck down with lawsuits, so, all these promises they make are unlikely to ever take form anyway.
I'm apathetic now. But hell, welcome Bill Clinton! You represent a different age when politics didn't get people so psychotically worked up to the point of madness.

none of them left.
But now, many are leaving the country, and the election hasn't even happened yet.
I feel that whoever is elected, a good portion of people are going to be REALLY upset. Like, break up The US upset.
And, i don't expect the election to happen as it should. Something is going to happen to stall, delay, or outright cancel it.
i've been saying for about 10 years that I think splitting the US into at least 2 separate countries would be a good thing. It wont happen though.
The good old days have long gone and was a little shocked at how old he looks. I haven't seen a photo of him for years so you have a picture in your head already that doesn't quite match.
well he's old and time is taking it's toll. He's super rich though and probably would like to keep that Epstein list locked up tight.
Yeah I agree with you about Bill. He was slick and even though I knew he was full of shit I enjoyed the way that he presented himself. He really looks like a shell of a person now though. How old is he now anyway? 80? Ok turns out he is 78. HE looks like he is 112, which is probably pretty close the millions he has in net worth that we are allowed to know about.
having that much money can probably do wonders for someone's quality of life... but he still has to live with Hillary or so we are meant to believe.
