As much as they might like to have that be a thing it is built into the legislation that ceding (is that the right word) from the Union is nigh on impossible. If it was possible, Texas would have done it a long time ago.
The thing is, The United States was a group of states. And the states could leave.
Until it wasn't. And then the Civil War happened, which forced every state to be firmly under The US (whatever the corp. was called then)
However, the structure that would keep that in place is falling apart. And the overlords want to see America break up.
So, just like CHAZ was allowed to happen, Washington will be allowed to go. And there is already Chinese troops right the other side of the border waiting.
