IQ is almost a forbidden topic in universities these days. It is like judging a person by their skin color. "A horrible thing to do", (they shout) even though there are medical differences that should never be ignored.
A quote, i cannot remember who by (Einstein, Tesla, Bucky Fuller…) that humanity is pulled along by our advanced thinkers. And if we want to increase our (tech level) we need to encourage our smartest to take on the tasks of solving the worlds troubles. They are like a (locomotive) engine, pulling the human race forward. The more, and the stronger the engines we have, the faster humanity can go.
It is very important for humanity's future to encourage high IQ people to use their brain power to help the world. However, it is also just as important to understand low IQ people, and leave a space in the world for them to grow.
That we have let neo-liberals runs wild with "blank-slate" theory, thinking that everyone could be equal, if only we didn't oppress people. People are not blank slates. Children are born with different personalities, aptitudes and abilities. We must abolish "blank-slate" thinking, so that we can help each person become the best they can be.
IQ is one of the best measurements we have. Even better than the Big 5 personality test. It correlates with so much of our life. We must abolish the nay-saying, and truly look into the correlations IQ shows. Doing so will make for a much better world (not fair, not equal) where each person can be encouraged to reach THEIR highest potential, according to them.
Blank-slate-ism
The idea of the "blank-slate" is an evil idea. You see, if everyone starts off as a blank slate when they are born, then it is only their upbringing that makes them different. And that upbringing, their environment is purely a form of social structure. So, therefor all the problems are systemic. You are a hardened criminal? It is because of the system not giving enough money to single mothers. You have a "low IQ" it is because you went to shitty schools in the poorer districts. And what is needing is more funding for schools.
The reason this is evil, is that it takes a person's free will out of the equation, and places the blame on society. Blame needs to be placed on each person as they do wrong/harm to others/society. And, in this way, we shape people to not hurt others or society. This used to be called bring up your children right. Or being right with God. But, we aren't allowed those terms anymore. So, blank-slate-ism is why we are now allowing thugs to run around stealing and hurting others, while we prosecute people for defending themselves and their property.
The idea of blank-slate allows people to push the blame off of themselves, and onto society. Absolving them of all sins. It allows people to be lazy in their thinking, and lazier in their self-policing. Their morals atrophy. Society dies.
You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear
A high IQ person can choose to be a trash collector; A low IQ person can not choose to be a scientist.
This is a real problem in our society. Where we have an inbuilt competition among jobs.
As an example, almost any person can stuff envelopes. But teaching an 83 IQ person to do this task takes a lot of time to train them, and still they will do it slowly. Thus, anybody of normal-ish IQ can get the job, and do the job better. But, if they do, what tasks are left for the 83 IQ person to do? Where in society have we left a space for them to fill?
The 83 IQ person is suited for sweeping floors. As long as there is someone else there to fix any problems that they encounter, or clean up messes they create. The military has found that there is no task that a person under 86 IQ can do that is a benefit to the military. These people really need assistance to live their lives. They need assistance to do any jobs they are assigned to.
As a society, we need to handle this. We need to create spaces, and jobs, where these people can feel useful. And we need to keep higher IQ people from taking over these jobs/spots. (long ago in the before time, newspaper delivery was something teenagers did to make money, today it is done by adults, with cars, as an extra job to survive.)
When competition comes up, low IQ people get swept aside. But that is the capitalist way. Unfortunately, capitalism does not handle a lack of paying jobs that well. (and capitalism does even worse job at this when the govern-cement regulates everything. Like minimum wage means that when a person cannot make enough money for the business to cover their pay, they cannot be hired. So, that low IQ person who was paid to sweep and clean, has to be laid off when the minimum wage goes up.)
High IQ people are destroyed in school
Even worse, from a societal point of view is how we destroy learning for high IQ people.
So often, the teachers shows something to the class. A math problem, maybe introduction to algebra, and the high IQ person has gotten it, and wants to discuss the rest of algebra. But no, the class is being taught for IQ 90 people. And so, they will spend the rest of the session monotonously going over that one math problem. And often, the IQ 90 people still don't get it, and the entire day is wasted for the high IQ person. Further, the high IQ person finds themselves trapped in a prison of boredom, where there is nothing they can do about it.
What is worse, is that college today, is what high school used to be. We have an ultimatum to send everyone to college. And so, high school is dumbed down, and then college is dumbed down. And so, the high IQ person cannot even escape into higher education.
We destroy what could be the greatest minds. And we do this even more because we have such tapioca palp such as "No child left behind", which means, that everyone has to be taught like their IQ is low. Instead of letting the best run far ahead, we have to shackle them to the slowest, and we think this is good for society. Because we are making everything "equal"
High IQ people often hate school. They usually love learning, using their brain, but the institution that should be there to help them, fails, and fails in a destructive way.
What is worse is that teachers usually are not of high enough IQ to teach their high IQ students. Really. There are many stories where children ask the teacher about a question they had while reading the school books, that the teacher doesn't know. Doesn't even know that this could be a question. The children have actually gone past the teacher's (adult) knowledge base.
We really need to look at IQ. (and then, after that, look at people's natural proclivities, and their talents) Then we can design society, develop a way of educating, and a leave a space open for each person to live their life to their fullest.
If we continue with the idea of everyone must be equal, then we slowly destroy society.
We don't do this in men's sports teams. We have and encourage the best to rise to the top. We have people at every level of sports that can see talent, and push them up the ladder to people that can help them more.
In academia, we have a bunch of people with weak egos, that often keep their students down. We have a group of people that encourage everyone to not keep score. We give out participation trophies. This hurts the students. All in the name of protecting their egos. But, all this does is create people with weak egos.
Lastly i should say that people of different IQ levels learn differently, and process thoughts differently. This may be the most important thing to know for raising children, to give them the best start on the best life.
But, since we aren't allowed to look, or discuss this topic, we are hurting everyone instead.
There are many wise thoughts in this text. I think the best we can do is to move the government out of education and leave it to the free market. Of course, the basic level of education could still be publicly financed by the state using vouchers that parents would receive, but schools would have complete freedom in choosing teaching methods and curricula, and they would also have to compete with each other for parents' vouchers. Then there would be a suitable niche for children with higher IQ and for others requiring separate teaching methods. Together with the state's withdrawal from education, the ideology you are writing about would also have to withdraw from it.
