Dr. Leana Wen, a Public Health Professor at GWU presents a horrifying argument in her interview with Chris Cuomo. She's, in effect, saying that freedoms are granted from the government; that the government can choose to allow you to enjoy these freedoms or withhold these “freedoms” at whim.
It’s clear to them that the vaccine is a ticket back to pre-pandemic life and the window to do that is really narrowing, and you were mentioning Chris, all these states are reopening; they’re reopening at 100% and we have a very narrow window to tie reopening policy to vaccination status. Because otherwise if everything is reopened then what is the carrot going to be? How are we going to incentivize people to actually get the vaccine?
So that’s why I think the CDC and the Biden administration needs to come out a lot bolder and say “If you’re vaccinated you can do all these things; here are all these freedoms that you have because otherwise people are going to go out and enjoy these freedoms anyway
It is clear that she has no concept of what freedom means and therefore doesn’t understand what individual rights nor the function of government as put forth in the US Constitution. Our rights are innate – they are not created by the government which is why limits are put upon government power; which is why a separation of powers was created – to reduce the likelihood of concentrated power. The US has been rapidly forsaking the concept of individual freedom and replacing it with group rights; it has been abandoning the idea of individual self-reliance in favor of government handouts. And, as a result, we are quickly turning from a nation of citizens to a nation of serfs.
Clearly she’s passionate. I think she’s sincere in her beliefs – but sincerity is not what’s important here. What’s important is the Republic and individual rights. Her road leads us to serfdom.
