As a lot of you well informed people already know the Freedom Convoy movement here in Canada is a really big deal. It is the first time since the start of the plandemic that the media hasn't been able to ignore or downplay the significance of our anti-mandate protests.
If 10,000 people on foot show up in a major Canadian city to protest for an afternoon the media mostly just ignores it. If it is mentioned, it is an afterthought or a footnote. Leaving the general public clueless that there are significant numbers of people that care enough about their lost freedom to get out and protest. One thing that makes the freedom convoy method so effective is that by physically blocking traffic, especially for multiple days the media is forced to cover it.
While the Ottawa Trucker Convoy protest in front of Parliament is getting all the press, it seems there are many other blockades and border crossing protests cropping up. The more the establishment tries to demonize those of us that are anti-mandate the more it fuels additional people, especially truckers and farmers to get mobilized. Telling a large group of people that just want freedom that they are "a small fringe minority," tends to piss them off.
The first border blockade and probably the largest so far has been the one at the Coutts border crossing in Alberta. At first, I was a bit apprehensive about the blockade because they had completely blocked all traffic in both directions and I was worried that the situation might spiral into violence.
I won't get into all the details here but several days ago the protestors did start to allow some traffic through. They are still slowing things down and building attention for the cause but I feel a lot more comfortable with the chance that things will stay peaceful now.
Which brings me to the point of this article. A few days ago the truckers put out a call for help after the RCMP tried to make a move on them and boy did people respond! The current protest/convoy/blockade can only be described as a semi-permanent encampment! At this point it is basically a new community of people winter camping and having a good time.
From the details in this video, they appear to be well organized and supplied with firewood, food, water, porta-pottys and other provisions. Entire families are camped out and there is a large contingent of horseback riders also having a good time.
I can only imagine what the police are thinking, considering that they are being ordered by our self righteous Politian's to clear the blockade, but they don't really have the ability to do so. Local tow truck companies have said publicly that they will not tow the protesters trucks and sarcastically are reporting to not have enough man-power or vehicles to respond to the request "due to covid."
Additionally, the Canadian military has so far decided that they will not get involved in removing the protests. So short of going in with force and making a large amount of arrests, the police don't really have any options. Especially now that some traffic is getting through the border, the optics of police violence to clear a peaceful protest is probably something they want to avoid.
