I LOVE SPLINTERLANDS
Just so we're clear. This isn't a knock on the gameplay or beautiful music, the wonderful storylines or character creation and artwork. This is about the bots. Anyone that has played the game has come across at least one, I can almost guarantee it. Even at the champion level, I find a few. I have a few alts I tinker around with, which, by rights, gives me more than one active account, BUT - I'm still only one player.
In the past 20 battles, I came up against 11 different accounts that had the word 'bot' in them. That's not to say that other accounts may not have been alts that were running a bot script either. I don't know. Sometimes, when I play my own main account, I know who isn't a bot like when I meet up against @clove71 or @neoxian, and I might send them a quick message saying good battle or you just kicked the shit out of me. Even in tournaments, I come up against guild members, like most recently, @dogcatcowpig, and mentioned inside the guild.
But It Gets Me Scratching My Head
Splinterlands is ranked as one of the best blockchain games in the cryptospace right? It also ranks as the number one app on Hive (I think, it may not, but it's close) - because of the daily active accounts. Now, looking at the fact that at least one of those bots has 92 sisters, and the other one has at least 14? Scrolling farther down, the enminer series highest I played was 17. I also battled @rus32-bot & @ru37-bot which puts another what, 70 bots on there? That's like, 200 accounts. From most likely, only 2 other players.
Why Are They There???
Well, the name says it all. MINERS. They are scraping every little bit of DEC they can and giving themselves an advantage in the game. I guess, if they have the willpower and know-how to do it, why not? I might if I had the resources. But, the one thing I can't agree with, is the numbers that get reported as 'active accounts'. It's a bot, it runs a script and nobody is there watching the battles and making intelligent decisions. It is run by another player.
I would be curious to know how many actual LIVE players are on Splinterlands because below the diamond level, over half of my encounters have been against bots. I'm not sure an app can claim to be the 'most active' in that sense. What about you? What is your experience? Do you see them often? Do you win? I try to beat the ever living piss out of them so the DEC can go to real players, that put the time in to get their wins in real time, with their own fingers, for their account, actually choosing each battle, what cards to play. Game on. Oh ya, REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when melting down an iron fist.

I knew it from the beginning when I saw there is no input from the players that it would be taken over by bots. There is no fun in that.
Dude, there are guilds that are nothing but bots man. Kind of depressing.
Yep. I sold my cards about a week or so after the game launched and I had a full deck with all the legendary cards and everything. lol
I have my cards up for sale, I don't understand any of it. Nobody is buying my cards either.
Have you listed them on your main account? I see 21 cards in your account and none of them are listed.
@flauwy has a point, there is a new system just released so may want to go back and relist them. Or DM me and I might buy 'em π
I would like to sell all my deck if you are interested in giving me a fair proposal

@flauwy would know! I will DM you and you can check out what I have ...I think some of them are pretty good.
are there voting bots on hive? Been down that road on steem and over it but curious
No, there are no voting bots anymore because downvotes are now free and content that is paid for via bots will be downvoted to zero.
don't votes are free? who will vote every bot voted post down?
Thank you so much for the mention!
No prob bro, keep them moves hot!
The game has got so complex and challenging that anyone who can program a bot to be able to win at higher levels deserves the DEC.
There must be tens of thousands of possible combinations of rule sets, manna levels and splinter availability.
Bots provide someone to play against which is better than waiting ages for a matchup.
And they are often an easy win, something Iβm really missing now I play at higher levels.
I'd just like to know the actual number of players π
YES... I am VERY Familiar with that frkn Eminers bots, I meet them alot and I been wondering same thing as it is Eminer 0 then 1,2,3,etc and how many bots are there really in the game. Funny cause I thought the idea was that there Wouldn't be many? Anyway..
I love the game alot and always has, but many things today doesn't make sense and its not a fair play like it used to be.
I miss the old times for many reasons.
Today power and money seems to be all that matters, and if you donβt have Eather.. You have no chance.
But ya... Im still here
Must be your perceiption because there used to be way more bots in the past, when it was still easy and profitable to run bots. Now it is much harder, much more expensive and much less profitable to run bots. There are still a few hundred and there will probably always be some because all blockchain games can and will be botted.
I know and I think it is good that the bots are less than before, but when you play for like 1 hour and meet many Eminers in all numbers, then its like... Really? π
But I hear you ππ
Still tho I think the power thing isnt quite fair as many good players that I know can't reach their potential, can't afford it.
Still I love the game but it kills me that I used to reach champion 1 and now struggle to get to champion 2.
Actually, you can rent gold foils cards for Pennies and easily get enough collection power to reach champion league. Haven't you seen all these recent posts about the new rental system? Easy and cheap. This will probably get more expensive over time, when earnings will go 10x towards the end of the year. We don't know for sure but I am pretty convinced it will beceome very lucratove to play, even in the lower leagues.
Yes I seen some posts and know People who now are Thinking of renting cards, but I honestly haven't checked it out myself yet.
Hope it is a good help for new People and good thing it is lot cheaper. Thank you for the info.
The level one bots up in champion territory is kind of confusing. Makes me wonder how many real players there are.
I play Splinterlands because: 1. I like winning and 2. I can earn while playing the game. Game itself is fun but without the ability to earn I would rather play Witcher games, Dragon age origins, heroes of might and magic 3, mafia or some other my favorite games. So I care very little if my opponent in Splinterlands is real or a bot.
Does usually make for an easy win, I am just curious how many real players are in the game.

What is most depressing is when I lose to a bot that is running all lvl 1 cards - in diamond league, and I am using maxed cards. Am I just that bad at picking good teams or is the bot that good?
I have had that happen and look at the screen like, what the serious fuck?
As the mod/HR guy for a bit service i can tell you, we alone are near 1000 bottled accounts. I could probably get you an exact number if you wanted. I also know of 3 others who have their own scripts, all have 30-150 accounts. I hope this helps brother. I send my love to you and the family!!!π€π€π€
