Hello everyone, welcome to this week’s Scifi prompt, I am @akwash360 and I’m delighted to partake in the SMP-WK4 Prompt on the topic; The Science of Procrastination. I was so happy when I saw this topic because it’s something that has cost me badly over the years, which I would love to share with everyone.
I would like to start by explaining what Procrastination is all about. In the course of doing my research on this topic, I was meant to understand that procrastination is a deliberate act of postponing, shifting or putting on hold a certain task that needs to be done immediately. I see it as a deliberate act because it’s something that you can do instantly if only you chose to do it. Unfortunately, procrastination has caused a lot of damage, of which I will be sharing my experiences.

Let me start with my childhood experience. When I was seven (7) years of age, I could vividly remember a day when my mother made a delicious meal which we the children love so much. It’s a local dish though I can’t recall the name at the moment. She dished to everyone’s plates. All the children took their own food and ate, except for me. I remember my mom called me several times to come and eat before proceeding with what I was doing, but I kept saying “I am coming” while I was washing my clothes. I was given the liberty to eat first but I turned it down, procrastinating that I will come and eat soon.
Unfortunately for me, A visitor just came in. Just when I saw the visitor I knew I was in trouble. That was when I made up my mind to go and pick my food. Immediately I went and picked it up, coming out I saw my mom standing at the door stretching her hands towards me. I knew I messed up, but it’s too late. She collected the food and divided it into two parts giving me half of it. I was so angry that I hated the quest so much that time, and funny enough she doesn’t even know what happened.
That became a thing of the past. Just recently I saw a nice shirt from a shop when I was passing by. I went into the shop and priced the shirt. After several deliberations we later agreed on a particular price but I was not holding cash neither was I with my atm card. And I could not transfer because the network was bad. I pleaded with him to at least hide the shirt for me while I quickly get home to pick up my atm card but he refused and and that was the only one left, so I decided to rush home, but on getting to my house i decided relax and eat first instead of spending just 10 min to go and pick up the shirt first. After eating I decided to take my bath. Just when I finished taking my bath a friend called and said that we need to see immediately and it won’t take me much time. That was how I left to see my friend. After everything I went back to the shop but unfortunately for me, The shop owner said the shirt was taken a few minutes ago. I felt like crying because I love the shirts and I don’t know where to get the type again.

This is just a few out of many losses that procrastination caused me. And I must say that the best way to overcome procrastination is discipline. Just do it even when you don’t feel like as far as it’s important to you.

When we understand that procrastination is not a friend at all, perhaps we would learn to keep it at bay.
So sorry for the shirt.
Thank you, I actually understand that better now
