Have you ever said these words too Hivers? I know Many of us have, probably in one way or the other. Procrastination always happens in life when we delay our tasks, even when we know too well that they are important. Our dear minds may be much ready, but our bodies will tell us, "Later, not now." So most times, it's very hard to fight this feeling. While some people do struggle to overcome it day by day, others embrace it with full 💖 heart—only to regret it later.
My Experience with Procrastination
My distinguish colleagues, The last time I procrastinated was quite on Wednesday, 5th February. I did had a second to final semester exam by 3 pm the next day, and I really needed to study hard to get the good grades at this final level and maintain my class. I had planned to read so early, but could you believe that when it was time, my body felt weak. Though my mind was all willing, but unfortunately I gave in to distractions.

- I picked up my textbook and start reading, at some point, I pause and flipped through it, and felt it wasn’t much at all. Instead of finishing it, I picked up my headphone and started listening to the banger Naija hits 🎧. At the process of struggling to read and concentrate on music 🎵, I later convinced myself I still had enough time since the exam was by 3 pm the next day.
But unluckily for me time flew, and suddenly, it was here Thursday afternoon. I had no escape route than to rushed through the pages, trying to gather quick information before the exam time. It was a very tough experience, and I promised myself I wouldn’t procrastinate again no matter the situation.
Lessons Learned from Procrastination
At this juncture, a lot of lesson was learnt that day by me because the tension and kind of tricky question I face was nothing to talk about and I'm scared of the grade not to be too poor. so below 👇 are few lessons I can share;
Time Waits for No One: Of course, The hours I thought I had all flew by fast rate.
Distractions Are Procrastination's Best Friend: The likes of Music, social media, and rest can always take up precious time to do most important things.
Last-Minute Rush Brings Stress: The last hour rushing to complete tasks leaves me with no room for deep understanding and reasoning.
My Ongoing Fight Against Procrastination
Since that very day, I have all been working hard to avoid the term procrastination in my life again nor a family member of mine. I now:
- To Read immediately when plans are made to.
- Avoid distractions more like loud music as in the case of mine.
- Prioritize important tasks before relaxing if needs be.
How to Overcome Procrastination
I've tried to overcome procrastination after my lesson learnt. This few has really been helping me;
- Set Clear Goals: I do Know what I'll want to achieve and when.
- Break Tasks into Smaller Parts: Studying or working bit by bit help reduces the pressure.
- Remove Distractions: I do Keep phones and music away during my study time.
- Reward Yourself After Tasks: I try as much to Celebrate small wins after completing tasks.
My Advice to Young Creative Minds
Please 🙏 I beg you all to don’t wait for the “perfect time.” The best time to always start is now. If you will stop procrastinating today, you’ll definitely enjoy less stress and better results tomorrow. So Start early, stay focused, and avoid those last-minute panic. Try as much to avoid those mistakes I make and thrive for success.

Yes dear it is
hmm, a lot of students struggle with this. Some failures are not because the students are dull its due to lack of proper preparation caused by procrastination.
I know it is not something easy to overcome, but I fight it like I fight with a physical enemy, I just can't give in to it anymore.
