When I was little, I visited a relative at the hospital and I saw the uniforms of doctors and nurses, I was too amazed. "Mummy, I want to become a nurse when I grow up" I said to my mother, smiling from ear to ear. And then when I was older, I met a woman in our church, who suggested studying pharmacy would be the best as it was what brought cool cash.
I was in secondary school then, so I read up materials about the profession "pharmacy"—its hazards, its income, and the number of years it took to study in Nigeria. Satisfied with my research, I concluded to be a pharmacist in the future and joined the science class as soon as I became a senior in school. But deep down, I wanted to be an art student, to study law—I’ve been a good talker since I was little, my grandfather often called me a "lawyer". I discarded the thoughts of being an art student and reading law after I saw how bad Nigeria’s economy was and still is, I didn’t want to graduate roaming around with a certificate without a job.
My parents supported my decision all the way, so after secondary school, I wrote JAMB (Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) three consecutive times, applying for pharmacy at a federal university but still ended up getting a course that wasn’t related to anything pharmacy. After too many trials, I accepted a course that I disliked with passion and still no job.
The situation of the country has ruined my tall and big childhood dreams, my regret is I would have gone to a private university even if it would have cost a lot. I was thinking I’d get a job at least after graduation even if it wasn’t my desired course.
People are now leaving the country by all means to give themselves a better life and I’m afraid that is the surest way to break free from the restraints stopping one from acheiving goals. Then again, the financial implication of leaving the country is very high, lots of people still cannot afford this.
If only the country’s economic status was good, even individuals’ backgrounds wouldn’t get in the way of people achieving their dreams.

Thank you very much 🙏
The country is something else, alot of people with bright future and big dreams, wasn't able to make it in this country. The country is just trash and it's hurts to be a citizen of a bad country.
You are right!!!
Thank you
It's just so right to do a self-review once in a while; it will make one see where more effort is needed and where one should be grateful.
