The power supply in my area is wack

To be honest everyone knows that the power supply in Nigeria is never stable, today we hear that the national grid has fallen and almost the whole country is blanked out except for some special areas, maybe like Government houses which I even doubt, the power supply in my state some months was actually okay but since February up on till now it has become very low, everytime there’s always one thing wrong with the transformer, Infact since last week we haven’t seen any steady power supply. It has been low voltage for the past weeks and now for the past few days we haven’t even seen power supply at all, because of this we had to make use of everything in the freezer that could get spoilt, like meat and fresh fishes and also the soups we made we to eat and we dashed out also just to avoid it getting wasted.

In my area, there’s two set of power supply one is called 33 voltage (high tension) while the other is called 11 ( nomal voltage). The high tension users often get power supply evey time and while we the 11 users get the bare minimum, now the issue is that the houses that uses the high tension are still
Connected to normal one, so this has affected the transformer in such a way that there’s always issues with the transformer, some time last month, I saw how one of the poles behind our house kept catching fire repeatedly, some days we would here a loud noise that came directly from the transformer.

Right now as it everyone is going into solar, because there’s hardly light and the fuel prices is not something to joke about, in my area more than 80% percent of compounds have installed solar, the church I attend just installed solar some weeks back worth 13million naira ($8,592). The compund directly opposite my house has solar panels all over his roofs and after paying for high tension light too, this is just to make that power supply doesn’t go off.

The compound where I live has only prepaid meter, and has also got only the 11 voltage, so as it is right now, for the past how many days it has always been low voltage and now for like three days straight there has not been power supply at all, we have to use generator every night just to power phones and pump water. Honestly if we had money solar would be the next thing on our mind, because it’s very expensive, I have a close friend that installs solar panels and from what I have heard and seen it is very expensive indeed and for a very long time we haven’t had a steady power supply.
