Power Supply In Nigeria: Scifi-multiverse prompt

in SciFi Multiverse3 days ago

Since the switch of authority in Nigeria power holding company from government to private, we've been experiencing a poorer power supply and a daily increment in the electrical bills. Among her states, Niger state is known as the power state where electricity is generated in kanji dams and supplied to other states, Neither Niger state which is known as the power state nor the other states supplied to enjoy a 24 hours Light talk more of experiencing a stable light for a week. If a light is stable for a day or two, it is either month end where our electrical bill is due for payment, or they're compensating us for a week of blackout.

ALTERNATIVE POWER SUPPLY

People have resolved to alternative means of electricity within the country which are either generators or solar panels. People who rely on 24-hour electricity for their businesses chose to make use of solar panels rather than generators, prepared meters, and direct electricity. Solar among the others is the most assured means of power supply provided there is sunlight, and for more electricity security, people use both solar inverters and prepared meters.

NATURE OF ELECTRICITY IN NIGERIA

When I was growing up, we had this strong anticipation for light. We jubilate when NEPA supplies light and rain insults when the power supply is interrupted. We get scared when the light stays longer than it's kept on a daily basis, because there's always a probability that the extended hours may mean a day or two without light.

There are times we've enjoyed a stable light for a day or two and most of the days we stay in blackout for weeks and it seems we've adapted to this nature of electricity. Power supply is more stable in villages compared to cities, maybe because there are fewer loads in villages compared to the cities. Some few years back, a group of people brought the initiative of a 24 hours power supply, the cables supplied to them and their transformer was different from that of the regular people. They managed to maintain a 20-23 hour light for a year until everything crumbled, having to face the same issue of blackouts like the regular users.

SOLUTION FOR NIGERIA ELECTRICITY

Unfortunately no solution will work as long as people in government houses and the top remain greedy for their personal good. A prominent person in the country imports generators and that's one of his sources of income, if electricity in the country is stable, it will mean a bad business for him. So he ensures his business is moving. Our major problem is the people who hold power, they don't desire change because change means a bad business for them. The day the government becomes patriotic in honesty, loving Nigeria more than their selfish interests, then a lot of things will experience a positive turn.
