Why Humility is a Virtue We Should All Strive For, One Of The Lessons I Learned So Far

Humility is one of the greatest lessons I learned so far, Being humble does not mean you are daft or do not know what you are doing in life, humility opened the door for one of my brothers last week and I inculcated this habit immediately.

My brother is someone who would always advise me to thread carefully because life has its benefits, he always respects everyone around him, he would never look down on anyone no matter how small you are, and he always preaches peace within the family no matter the situation.

In his place of work, he is working directly with his boss, this boss is wicked and harsh, he doesn't give his staff a free hand at all, most of his staff left because they couldn't handle the way the man treats them, though my brother said he is someone who doesn't suffer his staff with salary but his presence can make you pee on yourself.

When I was in search of a job he advised me never to come to his office because I would not be able to handle this man, and I knew that I would have a problem with him, I am not so calm to the extent that I would accommodate his excesses, I would speak up if his behavior is affecting my work and life, I believe work is not a do or die something.

Some weeks back my brother got a recommendation from his boss to the higher authority, and he was promoted to a new office, we were all happy for him because of his humility, he took his boss's excesses and it worked for him, he doesn't allow anything to bother him about his boss, he always praise his boss and always follow his instructions.

Humility is not about being timid, weak, or lacking confidence. Rather, it is about being modest, and aware of one's limitations. A humble person recognizes their strengths and weaknesses, acknowledges the contributions of others, and remains open to learning, growth, and feedback.

Humility is a powerful and essential virtue that can bring numerous benefits to our personal and professional lives. By cultivating humility through self-awareness, active listening, and a willingness to learn, we can build stronger relationships, foster resilience, and achieve greater success. As we strive to become the best versions of ourselves, let us remember the quiet strength of humility and make it a guiding principle in our lives.

I learned through my brother that humility pays a lot, it is never about being arrogant and pride, you can be humble and maintain your dignity, through his character I know humility can make way for you and he pays attention to everything about his job, he learned more about his job which makes him the head of his department now even when some people are above him by age but everyone celebrated him because they know he deserves the position through his humble character.

Being humble doesn't show your weaknesses, it is a quality that everyone should inculcate, it is not about being lousy in your environment, impact in your character and behavior and let people be able to speak nicely about you when you are not there.

My brother's humility has inspired me to make it a guiding principle in my life. I've learned that being humble doesn't mean you're not confident or capable. It means you're aware of your limitations and open to growth.
