Hello everyone!
Natural disasters can be life changing events, even tho I've never experienced one and I pray not to ever experience it. So during the flood that happened last year, here in maiduguri Nigeria, a friend of mine, who happened to school there in maiduguri, was a victim. She went to visit her grandparents, to spend some time with them before returning back to school"if only she had known what would later happen". It was so terrible that it almost got her groundparents house totally swallowed in it, the flood destroyed their entire community and livelihoods. But i thank God that she didn't loose any of her family members in it.
During the flood, they lost some their important belongings, such as original property documents. Apart from the documents, their road was cut off, power was out and access to clean water became the major problem. The first few days after the flood, was so though, that my friend almost gave up, people were stranded, there was scarcity of food supplies and emergency services were overwhelmed with the large number of victims. Some humanitarian organisations and agents provided temporal reliefs like food, blankets and medical aid. Many families, including my friend had to rely on local support, just to get by.
Recovering from that incident wasn't so easy for my friend, her grandparents and others, as they had to almost start over from scratch. The challenges they faced after the floodwaters receded, was so much for her to be bear. She cried for so many nights, she couldn't even continue her second semester in school, cos there was no money to pay her fees. They had to relocate temporarily back to Abuja, while their home was being cleaned and repaired. They also had to go to court and start some proceedings for their lost property documents. We supported her financially and otherwise in the little way we can. I'm greatful to God for saving her and keeping her alive and well. Today, she's doing great, her grandparents are also doing well. Tho, she couldn't continue her school In maiduguri, and they're still in abuja.

Through this experience, I learnt that resilience is not just about personal strength, but about supporting one another during tough times. I wish and hope that none of us will ever experience a natural disaster, and those who have experienced it will never have to come across it agian.

Hello there. Nature can sometimes be cruel. Although I have never experienced natural disasters, I have friends who have. Two years ago, my friend lost millions in cash and properties to a wildfire.
