Have I ever been wrongly accused? Yes I have!
How did it make me feel? Terrible, oh yes! I felt so bad that all fingers were pointing at me for something I didn't do. Been wrongly accused is something no one should have to go through, and that's why before pointing accusing fingers at someone it's necessary that we investigate the issue on ground properly.

Have you ever had a friend who will always use "visiting your house" as an excuse to go on useless dates and outings?
That was my situation then, I had this friend Sarah who would always use visiting JOY'S house as an excuse to go on dates. All this was happening and I didn't even know that she has been using my name and house to lie.
One day I was going to get some groceries from a nearby store and her parents saw me from afar and beckoned on me to come.
So I crossed the road and went to them, after formal greetings, they asked if Sarah their daughter was still in my house, I was shocked but I had to play along, so I said yes, and even lied that she's helping my mum work on something. They nodded and so we parted ways. Immediately I got home, I reached for my phone and dialled Sarah's number, she picked and I explained what just happened. She pleaded with me to always cover up for her but I advised her that doing that will only implicate me and get us both into trouble and she said she'll be very careful and blah blah blah.
It continued that way until she finally fell Into the wrong hands. She went to visit a guy, and he beat her black blue for no reason. Gave her cuts and bruises, why?
She came back home and lied to her parents that I conived with one of my male friend to beat her up... Haaa! Me, when where how? Immediately her parents heard that, they ran to my house with almost all their neighbours and started accusing me, calling me names, they even tried to hit me until my sister intervened. Luckily for me, my sisters and some of the people in our area have seen her countless time with different guys, and that was how I was saved.
I didn’t even bother to confront her, I just decided to stay on my own lane and she on hers.
If I knew that Sarah would later turn the tables around when things would turn bad for her against me, I would have washed my hands out of the matter since I found out what she was doing.
I've never been lucky with the people I call friends. Looking back, I realize that trust is a fragile thing, and not everyone deserves it. Sarah's betrayal taught me a valuable lesson, never cover for someone who isn't willing to take responsibility for their actions. If I had stepped back earlier, I would have saved myself from unnecessary trouble.

From that experience, I learned to be more cautious about who I call a friend. True friends don’t put you in harm’s way or throw you under the bus when things go wrong. While this situation hurt, it also made me wiser.

This is my response to the 19th day of March daily prompt by @leogrowth.
