As humans, one of the habits that can prevent us from reaching the light at the end of the tunnel and becoming the best versions of ourselves is procrastination. Procrastination is one habit that hinders our personal growth and prevents us from becoming the best versions of ourselves. There are so many quotes about procrastination. However, the one I like best is, “Procrastination is the thief of time.” I’m sure we have all found ourselves in a situation where we give excuses instead of getting things done. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you wait until the last minute before you do an important task? Before you know it, you start giving excuses like, “I’ll do it tomorrow. I’ll do it next time or give me a few minutes.” Then a few minutes turns to an hour, and an hour turns to 5 hours, then you wait till the last moment before you hurriedly get the task done.
That period when you take time off and relax instead of working is always “sweet.” It is like being trapped in a room filled with whatever you want. During that short period, you feel on top of the world and you enjoy every bit of it. For instance, one of your New Year's resolutions is to pray every morning. For the first few days, you woke up and did according to your resolution. Gradually, procrastination starts seeping in, and then you start saying, “Let me sleep for a few minutes. I can pray later.” That period when you sleep for a few minutes hits differently, which is why procrastination is addictive and particularly dangerous in the line of work.
In a surprising twist, procrastination has also had some unexpected benefits in my life, which happens once in a blue moon, but that’ll be another story for another day. For day 2, the inleo prompts ask us to discuss procrastination. What important thing has procrastination cost you? As I mentioned above, procrastination is one habit that hinders our personal growth and prevents us from becoming the best version of ourselves. Procrastination has cost people many important things in life, especially those working in companies that have to meet deadlines. Do you expect your boss to draw you closer and give you a warm hug when you procrastinate instead of submitting the required task before the deadline? Procrastination has also ruined relationships. For example, procrastinating on plans with your partner or friends instead of following through on them. Over time, you'll be labeled as someone who doesn't keep their word.
Looking back, I have lost many things because I procrastinated or struggled to keep up with them at the last minute. About a year ago, my phone fell and the screen cracked. Luckily, I had a screen guard on it, so instead of the screen getting cracked, the screen guard did. It didn't look nice, and I had to remove it. Usually, when I remove a screen guard from my phone, I replace it immediately in case it falls again. But that day, I was just too tired to go out and get a new one. So, I sat down, relaxed, and decided I would do it the next day. The next day, I went to school but forgot to fix it. I had already gone halfway before I remembered that I was supposed to buy a new screen guard. This kept happening until I totally forgot about it. I gave up on replacing the screen guard and continued to use my phone like that until one day when it fell again and the screen got broken. It didn't fall from a very high place, but I was surprised that the fall caused so much damage.
I had to buy a complete screen. If I hadn’t procrastinated and replaced the screen guard when I had to, I would have saved myself a lot of money.

Procrastinating destroys things that took us so much to build. Just a momentary pleasure and we pay a huge price for it.
The sad reality.
