My father's meager salary from the force work wasn't enough to pay all the bills; hence, my mum ventured into petty trading to help with paying the bills. In the end I realized my mom had better skill management with handling finances than my dad.
She was able to provide more for us and even pay up our school fees when the salary earner was acting up.
Then came a time in my daddy's life when he wanted to expand his source of income. Having thought about various businesses he could venture into, he decided to settle for this transportation business. Without having capital, he walked up to the bank and took a loan of a million naira. As of that time, this was an amount that was of huge value.
Upon returning home, he and some of his friends went to purchase a used car from car dealers. And like you all know, fairly used/used cars won't come without a mechanical problem. Sometimes these dealers just repackage an extremely severe car just to sell it to innocent victims.
The car was brought home, and just as expected, it has several damaged parts that need either repair or replacement. The remaining part of the funds was used in servicing all the faults in the car. When the transportation business fully commenced, it was from one trouble to another. The car will work for one day and break down the next day.
This is a typical kind of experience that my country people pass through and often make remarks that the power of witchcraft is the reason for their failure. From the look of things, the business was already a failure from the start. Eventually the car packed up, leaving us with the loans to deal with.
My dad's salary had been halved monthly for 2+ years. What wasn't enough for us before now was then further shortened. It was a tough time for my family; school fees were delayed, and most times we were sent home away from school.
The loan was later fully serviced; my dad then decided to resell the car after spending so much on it, a car that was bought for over half a million and serviced with thousands of naira was later cheaply sold for only 200k. I can even remember what that money was later used for.
Ever since that time, I learned an important lesson: never take a loan for whatever course or borrow money from people. I have experienced and heard of several stories where creditors embarrass their debtors over small debts. At all costs I will do whatever it takes in life to avoid debts.

Oh my! Debts indeed are scary, one has to avoid them as much as possible. Thank goodness the debt was paid at last but the damages it caused isn't good at all.
That's the thing with some used items, they just lose value 200k was too small to sell the car 🥲
I so hate how they package and resell this thing and no one will understand how poorly damaged they already are.
Thanks for engaging.
It's really annoying
