Hello, everyone.
Man has been on a quest since time immemorial seeking ways to make life better and more comfortable for himself. Man has utilized many sources of energy, with fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and oil) being the most predominant source of energy man has utilized, and with the rate of consumption of this particular source of energy being higher than the rate of formation or production, man realized that it is exhaustible and continued seeking other sources of power to help improve and maintain the quality of life.
The amount of energy consumed by a particular area or nation can also be used to determine the quality of life in the area or nation; if there is low energy consumption, it can be said that the quality of life is low and needs to be improved. Developed countries have higher energy consumption, and a better quality of life can be experienced in developed countries, while countries that struggle with low energy consumption can be said to have a quality of life not so good.
An energy is said to be renewable if it can recharge over time; the ability of these energies to recharge is what makes them renewable and inexhaustible. Renewable energies have high production or formation; their production or formation rate is always higher than their consumption rate.
Examples of renewable energy and their sources include:
SOLAR ENERGY: This type of renewable energy is gotten directly from the sun. The energy from the sun can be captured using a solar system collector, which captures the sun's energy and converts it to either heat energy or electrical energy. Solar energy is the most abundant renewable energy and is easy to harness because of its abundance.
WIND ENERGY: This simply refers to the energy generated by the wind and can be harnessed using turbines, which convert the wind energy into electricity. Wind energy can be harnessed and used for other purposes aside from the generation of electricity.
HYDRO ENERGY: This type of energy is generated by moving water; hydro energy is mostly used for the generation of electricity. This energy can be gotten from ocean tides or ocean waves; water flow at high speed is a typical example of how hydropower works.
BIOMASS: This type of energy is gotten from organic materials (plants and animals); both living and dead plants and animals are sources of biomass fuels.
Renewable energies are mostly from natural sources, which is what aids their inexhaustibility, as they occur naturally, and all we need to do is harness the energy or process them in cases where the need arises. Renewable energy is one of the many sources of power I believe will serve man better and for a very long time.
