One word that has always sound a note of warning to me in the past years and even in recent time is PROCRASTINATION and this is because of the harm it has caused me in the past. Procrastination is a cankerworm that has eaten deep into people's life and destiny, it's also caused serious setbacks to people's journey in life. Apart from all I have said apart procrastination, it's always been a clog in the wheel of many and being a clog in the wheel of many has really slow down the pace of their progress.It's indeed a cankerworm that has eaten deep into what could have been the success story of many.
The word procrastination which is synonymous to postponement is so serious that many people in their interactions with me have themselves to blame for what has befell them through procrastination. When I listened to some of their ordeals through proscratination, I was shocked and moved just because how procrastination has dealt with them in achieving their purposes. One thing about procrastination is that it steals, kills and destroys.
When I was having interaction with friends, one of them told me how he lost a big opportunity to working in a multi national company due to him postponing his application for the post advertised in the media, he said that he postponed it till the last day and that on the last day, when he was to register, he noticed the traffic jam on the portal, though he tried his best till 11:59pm which was the deadline time on the deadline day. He said, he had moved on, but that anytime he remembered how he missed the huge opportunity because of procrastination, he used to cry secretly.
As if that was not enough, another person also shared his own experience on how procrastination kill his mum, though the mum was getting better from her ailment, but, he needed to take her to the hospital for better treatment after being self medicated for a while, he said had he known that she would lose his mum on that particular day, he would have taken her to the hospital a day before, but on the day he said he would take him to the hospital was the day his wonderful mum died.
Hmmm, when I heard all these from my friends, I also share mine with them. Mine was not that different from theirs as procrastination is procrastination. In my own case, I was to be given a contract worth millions of naira when procrastination struck and snatch the contract from me. It's in the middle of last year when a contractor whom I have been lobbying to get contract from his company called me and asked me for a quotation of how much it would cost him for me to supply him the needed building materials, what he asked me met me unprepared and my response was I will call you back,but instead of doing the quotation immediately I hung up, I was only postponing the drafting of the quotation till the following day.
So, on the following day, I did the calculation and the quotation and immediately I did that, I called him and as I was about to talk, the man interrupted and asked me not to worry as they have got the quotation from someone else due to my delay in responding to his demand. When I heard this, I was so sad and as I was about to plead with him, he hung up the call and a call put to him after was not answer and that's how i lost the contract till today
.
It's really a terrible experience, but since then, I have been working against procrastination, though I have not been able to recover from the last experience I had with my act of procrastination, but I'm on the right track of achieving great thing with my new mode of doing things which is precrastination the antonym of procrastination. Procrastination is an enemy of time, and a foe of success.

That's an awful experience. Failing to gain work because of procrastination must teach you a hard lesson. I too sometimes delay unnecessarily calling back someone. We should be more committed.

Procrastination is causing a lot of people to remain stagnant in life. It gives the momentary of pleasure but leaves one with regrets of unfulfillment.
