Entry post for this week prompt: The Science of Self Review.
Growing up, I always dreamed of becoming a medical doctor. It was something I constantly fantasized about. The way novels described doctors with admiration and reverence motivated me and fueled my passion. I would write about it in my diary, reminding myself that this was my goal and that I needed to stay focused. It was a dream I held onto with deep passion and determination, and I promised myself not to let distractions pull me away from it.
For this week’s prompt, SciFi Multiverse asked whether we made this decision ourselves or if others influenced us. To a great extent, my environment and family played a significant role. My father, in particular, values education and never took it lightly. He made sure we were always serious with our studies. My mother also played a huge role by teaching me to read and write at a very young age, which gave me an edge over others in class—and even led to a double promotion.
Getting into medical school wasn’t easy. I wrote many exams, burned countless midnight candles, and endured discouraging words from others who didn’t believe in my dream. At one point, people literally began to say that my dreams were too big for me, and some even tried to choose a different path for me. But I remained persistent and refused to let go. It wasn’t funny watching my mates move on to other phases of their lives while I was still at home, studying and preparing for entrance exams. One of them even said she never expected me, out of all people, to still be at home. Her words stung, but they also fueled my determination.
Thankfully, after almost three years of staying at home, I finally gained admission into medical school. I was overjoyed because all my hard work, diligence, resilience, and discipline had finally paid off. Sadly, that joy was met with a twist: I saw the amount of school fees required to become a bonafide medical student. I cried and thought to myself, Just when it’s time for me to dance, the drummer refuses to play. But my parents reassured me, saying they would handle it. They reminded me that as long as God is on the throne, everything will be okay. Their words gave me comfort, and I chose to focus on this next chapter of my journey.
SciFi Multiverse asked if we’ve achieved the big dreams we had as children. I wouldn't say I’ve fully achieved mine yet, but with God on my side, I’m on my way.
In all, discipline, persistence, support, wise counsel, the right environment, a strong support system, and—most importantly—faith in God have brought me this far. With all of these in place, I am confident that I will finish well.

Determination is the key to success, I'm glad you didn't allow the discouraging words from people to weigh you down.
wow, lovely, i also has a parent that is well invested in education and will go all length to see that we had the best they can offer.
Wow! That's good. Parents are supporters of dreams.
