IBT Survival Island - Update

In these regular updates we will bring fresh content to Hive, in the form of our game coding experiences; IBT is a developing PC game - the one to have future Crypto interactions.

It's time for another update. We have certainly been hard at work and nailed some good stuff, let's get into it.

Banana's Galore

Feeling like a strict diet of potassium it's time to go banana picking. Currently the banana's and tree are one whole mesh for performance reasons but we are now creating them separately so when the bananas are picked they will be removed!

Tweaking Ocean

After hours and hours of work with lots of editing textures its finalised, the ocean edges actually look ...sorta real. There is no way we can get ocean water to look any better than this. For a game to have a realistic feeling it's important that the environment is up to scratch. Many celebrations here at IBT HQ on a job well done and a ocean that looks good enough to swim in........apart from sharks.

Random Housing

Since the footy is back on and some of us being fans there is nothing more fun than sitting back and generating random medieval houses when annoying quarter time commercials come on. There are quite a few meshes we have for this and just like Lego building blocks all you need to do is move them around to make different structures.

That's it for this update - certainly allot of progress and some how found the wind in our sails again. While it's been a very long road, we just keep going, just keep coding and we will have something to release one day soon.

And keep giggling every time I see an update as I remember the early days of the game where you were supposed to be stranded on an island and had to survive and now I guess the island is Australia with a bunch of towns and stuff XD

Thank you re - water.. haha. Keep giggling, as nothing has changed. We are breaking all the rules. When you buy this on Steam you get two games for one. You can play a single player survival game stuck in Australian landscape OR you can play a RPG game. We are sharing many things across the engine. This is the equivalant of those old game packs you use to buy in the day (2 games in one - box). haha

Does starting one lock you out of the other?

Nope, not at all just play one, save and exit to main menu then play the next :)

Waves look so good for a game, bro!! Very convincing!! About the buildings, are these prebuilt meshes or generated procedurally? If not you might give procedural generation a try. Although that would need a lot of work to build a system, it will give you more variety. :))

Thats a great idea!! re the random buildings. The RPG game will have different missions pending what character class you play as. I would be good if we could randomise the towns and missions for each play (increasing re-playability). This would take a fair amount of extra coding for the style of game play we are after. But I what we will do is look to randomise backgrounds as a start..so non playable areas in the distance, and have them save with the player save. See where it goes from there.

It will add more dynamics to the game indeed. All the best, my friend!! :))
