In these regular updates we will bring fresh content to Hive, in the form of our game coding experiences; IBT is a developing PC game - the one to have future Crypto interactions.
Before and After Acid Lake
Just been adjusting some of the landscape lately. It looked so plain and had plenty of soil erosion but no stone could be seen underneath. Currently we are trying to keep the game running smoothly while making lots of detail in the terrain soils. So sneakily we have used a cliff face mesh over and over but have mirrored it and modified it by tweaking the X - Y -Z coordinates. This makes the same mesh look different and uses a very small amount of video memory to display it since it does not have to load lots of different cliff faces or meshes. The before image shown in a small box in the bottom left of the image below, compared to the detail now is incredible and it only lost 1 frame pers second (fps) which is acceptable and the performance loss isn't noticeable.
Mouth of the Sea
Quite some work has gone into the small rivers and creeks that flow out fresh water and meet the sea. Again, the exact same mesh is used over and over but with different coordinates. Once the fresh water has mixed with the sea it is not recommended to drink anymore.
Dense Scrubland
By request there has been a bit of work go towards patches of dense scrubland. Not only will there be trees and bushes everywhere but they should all just about be usable to build and craft with. Normally with dense scrub you can find small animals that use it for protection and cover.
And that's this weeks update dusted!
