A propósito del aniversario de la muerte de Philip Dick, uno de los más importantes escritores de ciencia ficción, se me ocurrió hacer este texto microficcional, que quiere jugar con elementos de su cuento “¿Sueñan los androides con ovejas eléctricas?” (del cual dejo enlace al final).
Quizás seamos androides, y no nos hemos percatado aún. O más bien ovejas. Sin establecer igualdades, tal vez seamos la combinación o la alternancia de ambos.
Nos hemos automatizado; nuestra rutina, casi idéntica cada día, pareciera confirmarlo. Aunque otras veces somos más bien pacientes y resignadas ovejas, siguiendo el rebaño.
Pero los androides pueden rebelarse, para escapar al implacable “blade runner”, y querer vivir una vida en libertad. Quizás las ovejas también; por algo Lope de Vega escribió Fuenteovejuna.
¡Que el espíritu rebelde de Philip Dick nos acompañe!
Androids or sheep? (microfiction in homage to Philip Dick)
On the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Philip Dick, one of the most important science fiction writers, I came up with this microfictional text, which aims to play with elements of his story “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” (of which I leave a link at the end).
Maybe we are androids, and we haven't realized it yet. Or rather sheep. Without establishing equalities, maybe we are the combination or alternation of both.
We have become automated; our routine, almost identical every day, seems to confirm it. Although other times we are rather patient and resigned sheep, following the flock. But androids can rebel, to escape the relentless “blade runner”, and want to live a life of freedom. Perhaps sheep can too; there is a reason Lope de Vega wrote Fuenteovejuna.
May the rebellious spirit of Philip Dick be with us!
