Golem Overlord: a new idle game on Hive
The Scholar's Tower is a semi-casual, writing and blogging guild in Hive's newest hit game—Golem Overlord.
Inspired by Terracore, Golem Overlord exploded onto the scene on April 7, 2023. Excitement and rapid updates have propelled the main token, $PART, to close to the top of the trading volume charts on Hive Engine (it's even surpassed Splinterlands' $SPS a few times! 🤯)
A semi-casual writing guild
My vision for the Guild is to develop a niche in fusing Web3 idle-gameplay with the development of relevant content on Hive (and beyond, possibly). Many Guilds will focus on dominating the gameplay or creating a social group for gaming friends. The Scholar's Tower won't ignore those things, but our focus will be on the aforementioned fusion of game and content.
- 😎 Semi-casual. Low ranks and 'I only check-in sometimes' players are welcome, within reason. We still want to be competitive and have reasonable success in whatever 'tier' we end up in. But no need for deep investment or daily activity.
- ✒️ Hive Bloggers Only. You or an account you control must have a Hive Blog rating above a certain number. 40 is my initial instinct, but we may adjust as things firm up.
- 🎯 We focus on idle game lore or information. With a big ole bias towards Golem Overlord (but other idle games or Hive games are fine). Non-fiction could be high-quality strategy posts (example). Fiction lends itself to lore or game content (example).
- 💱 A system that cycles value between the Guild and Hive Blog. The mechanics of this are TBD, mainly because GO's Guild economy and mechanics have yet to be released or refined. In general, I'm thinking of using a % of relevant Hive Blog rewards to help boost Guild stats, and hopefully using Guild reputation and services to help boost Hive Blog rewards. Curation strategies, beneficiary tactics... there are a lot of tools we can leverage within Hive itself, and GO's feature set is on track to be wildly innovative. So much of this will evolve with the game itself. The $SCRIBE and $SCHOLAR tokens on H-E may be flowed into this process as well.
- 🎓 Writing mentorship, support, and collaboration. The Scholar & Scribe community is something I already help run (the two tokens above are tied to posting rewards within that community). It is focused mainly on fiction, but that doesn't mean we can't find ways to connect into the writing talent, platform, connections, etc.

For now:
- Static information organized on Hive Blog under the #scholarstower tag
- Member chat will be limited to a Discord private group and/or in-game Guild chat. A dedicated Guild Discord Server may be created to accommodate growth.
- Alt accounts can be "parked" in the Guild if you're accepted and you want your Main to be in a more competitive guild. However, we may impose a tax on alt accounts that limit our ability to compete.
- I'm letting some random accounts take up space for the time being, but these will be removed as membership and plans firm up.
- There is currently a "You Must Bring Your Own Workbench" requirement for joining. This means you create your own Guild membership slot when joining, and each bench costs 5 SWAP.HIVE. The bench belongs to you, so if you leave the Guild, it stays with you. This requirement may change in the future.
🙋♀️ Applying to the Guild
You can apply in game easily enough by searching for the Guild name. The apply button should be pretty easy to find. I am also reachable on Discord as jfuji#0169.
If the Guild is full but still sounds appealing, message me anyway. The membership cap will rise as we get bigger, and/or we may create secondary Guilds and/or we may accept members that aren't in the game guild but want to contribute.
Of course, you need to playing GO to apply in-game. My referral link is here—it costs 30 SWAP.HIVE to start and another 5 SWAP.HIVE for the bench mentioned above.

Hi! I've been active on Hive for over a year now. In that time I've done a bunch of cool writing-related stuff that I think positions me well to see The Scholar's Tower to a place of success:
- Founding member and mod of The Scholar & Scribe community
- Serial fiction publishing: A horror novella, a fantasy novel, and currently a multi-novel paranormal adventure series—all on Hive along with "read2earn" contests every week(ish).
- Helped write and edit the current Golem Overlord whitepaper
- Building out lore for the Terracore game, which releases based on in-game achievements
- Crafting an NFT strategy series for the upcoming Wresting Organization Online (WOO) game
- I am working with marketers of other Hive initiatives (e.g. ValuePlan, Leo Finance) to figure ways to promote Hive to wider audiences.
