I see a lot of new players starting out GO and having trouble gaining any traction in the game. I answer a lot of questions in the GO discord but sometimes when you answer the same question enough times you go write a post to link to. That question is "Hey I'm new to the game where should I put my points?"
When it comes down to it you really only have two choices that are working right now. First my personal preference.
Option 1 the Raider
Raiders; Power, and, Faith, that's all you need No fort, no GCS your defense is that your too broke to rob, you have no generation and when it's time to claim you go out and take your parts and claim before anyone notices. Do not neglect your Rep/Level you need a lower battle energy CD to attack as much as possible, At first throw what you can spare into Level but if you're doing well raiding start pumping it you'll need it later. When you're comfortable with raiding and have Power, Faith, and level, where you want them you can to put 7 in Algo to unlock short claim (Optional and only really useful once you have your battle Energy CD down). I'm not exactly sure where it ends up high level but as I progress mine I'll probably post at some point about how it's working. PARTS for the Machine GOD!!
Edit to the Raider build
If you Keep you Algo and GCS at 1 you will now get an increase to your stash past Power 10.
The major downside to this build you have no defense if someone catches you raiding they can hit you while you're picking up loot and steal parts right back.
Edits to Raider
Two changes to the way this plays, First attacking someone else removes the shield you get when being attacked. So you can't attack you raider with your alt and have 5 mins of free reign. Second Increasing you Power past 11 increases cap space if you only have 1 Algo and GCS, but you'll still need a lot of bank cap space is low.
Option 2 Be the Farmer
For the Farmer Starting out it's one stat, Fort, Fort, and more Fort. Are you still getting hit? more Fort. once your walls are high enough to hold off the raiders start stacking Algo and GCS to get your generation rolling Algo > GCS for now. Algo gives you more scavenge rate per part spent and by a lot currently but GCS is expected to be tied to the future Golem Crates. Algo is very important because at 15 it unlocks long claim which gives a 15% claim bonus and is great for farm builds if you have the Fort to keep it. As you get to the point where you're comfortable farming in peace it becomes more of a balance build since you need about everything, Some faith helps the attacks that make it past your walls hurt less (I'm going up to 10 to start) and each point in Power up to 10 increases your cap by an hour which will save you some parts locked up in banked. You can't sleep on level just for the stat bonuses I'll make another post about later. My personal stopping point when I switch to another farm and let the first generate is going to be;
Recommended levels
Level 10 no prestige (till I see what the skills are for farms)
Algorithm 15 (for the long claim)
Power 10 (for the 10 hours)(could be dropped if you can stack the bank instead)
Fortification 15 (maybe higher as player progress)
Golem Charging Station 6 (Till Golem Crates come out)
Faith 10 (it's cheap it helps)
Banked 400 (Starting with 400 to see if it's enough for long claim cap but might be 500-600 in the end Especially if you don't put anything into power.)
Hope this helps answer some questions and hope these builds work for some of you.

Here's the formula for energy refill: // 0.98^(level-1)*4 hrs

Thanks for the guide, personally am trying to build both an offensive main and defensive alt but specializing too early seems to be hard now as getting robbed or not being able to rob anything can hamper progression at the start I think!
