Hi guys! Happy new year!!
Social media has been hyper about 2023, more people are no longer into the new year new me talk, most people are now willing to grow.
I remember past New Years when new year resolutions used to be new year new me, now it’s about hitting the gym, eating healthy, financial independence and stability, it’s about healthy relationships with family, friends and loved ones.
What makes this year so different? Sincerely I don’t know but I like to think that people are evolving, maturing, people are now choosing their peace of mind and mental health stability before anything else. And I hope it stays so because the positivity surrounding this year is immense, it seems like most people learnt and grew a lot in 2022.
I grew a lot in 2022, I matured a lot, I healed slowly, I even think I evolved. I believe I grew a lot in certain aspects because my past years were really sad and depressing, basically I was falling in and out of depression, I fought hard to stay happy. I went through a lot emotionally, financially, spiritually, mentally, academically, I mean actually I went through a lot in relationships/friendships/situationships.
I think I should probably start a lifestyle blog based on my experiences and stories, if you’re in support do well to notify me in the comment section, thank you.
Now, it’s not just about having these desires or goals or urges to do better it’s about actually doing better, it’s about actually committing to to make these plans, these desires, these goals work. It’s not just about writing them down in a journal or creating a vision board, it’s about starting.
The question is how do we start? how do you achieve these goals? Is there a procedure we need to follow? Because sincerely it’s scary to start something new, it’s scary to make plans, it’s scary to watch those plans fall in place and I’m scared, I think we all are. Forget the brave faces we all put on, forget the smiles, within ourselves we know how hard our hearts are beating, how sweaty our palms are getting, hot hot our faces are getting, and the truth is everyone experiences these things when they’ve made plans to achieve certain things.
Before we actually work on how to achieve these goals, I want you to ensure that you’ve written out your goals or wants or desires, whatever you may want to call them. Write them out in a journal, a note book, your phone note pad.
You might be wondering, what if I don’t know what I want? It’s ok really, we don’t have to have it all figured out once. You could start with things you wanted to achieve last year but you couldn’t, you could start with the littlest of things like I’ll drink more water this year. Your goals do not have to be extravagant because you aren’t trying to impress anyone.
Now, how do we achieve our set out goals? Should I be sincere? I don’t really know, I’m not so sure but I have some ideas that could work.
Firstly, we’ll start with the smallest or easiest of things, for example let’s say the easiest thing on your list is to drink more water, we could start with that by getting a water bottle and making sure it’s always filled up, you could also set an alarm for ever hour as a reminder to drink water. The point is to start with the goal you think is the easiest because along the line it might actually be the most difficult.
Secondly, do not beat yourself if things aren’t going according to plan. There’s a saying Man plans but God disposes. It could be but Allah disposes, or Buddha or fate or science or whatever you believe. Point is most times things don’t go according to plan so work on what you can.
Now I’m not saying give up or be lazy, nah fam, I’m saying be consistent, be hardworking but be smart. If along the line a particular goal doesn’t align with you anymore feel free to erase it also if you have new goals to achieve along the line feel free to add them.
**Remember the main goal is for you to be happy and not just to prove a point to others. Your goal is for YOU.

Happy New Year!! Welcome to 2023, I hope we all have a prosperous year.
