Chapter 20: My Most Listened-to Podcast Shows

I first learned about the world of podcasting around 2019. I was listening to the audio recordings of the Feast Conference then, and the speaker of one of the talks was Joyce Pring. I have been hearing about her a lot, but I didn't really know who she was. At the end of her talk, she mentioned about her podcast on Spotify. I did enjoy listening to her and wanted more, so I decided to check her podcast, whatever that was. Haha

I was amazed about the idea of it, especially because I initially thought that Spotify only caters to songs. Haha. But after listening to Joyce's podcast episodes, I found myself searching for other shows. If I am not mistaken, I think podcasts are the reason why I decided to go premium on Spotify. Lol. It just really made sense in my head, especially because I like multi-tasking. Imagine washing dishes while still learning something! Sulit, right? Haha

I ended up liking podcasting sooo much, that I one day found myself agreeing to my friend when she invited me to start one as well. HAHAHA. I even attended free online seminars about it, friend! We did publish it, and it is still on Spotify at the moment, but due to personal reasons, I decided to discontinue after our 4th or 5th episode.

ANYWAY...

In this post, I will share with you the podcast shows I have been listening to recently.

Adulting with Joyce Pring

The OG, and the main cause of my podcast addiction!! As its name suggests, this show talks about the different issues or topics that we faced, are facing or might face in the future as we journey this season called, adulting. Joyce not only shares about the lessons she learned from her experiences, but she also invites guests to view a topic from different perspectives.

SkyPodcast

This podcast was launched not too long ago, but I got hooked right away, not only because they are Cebuanos, but also because I really get something in each of their episode. They don't have a specific genre, but the things they talk about are relevant to today's times. I like listening to them because they're super chill, so it just feels like I am listening to my friends conversing to each other. Haha

Kwentos with Hannah

Another fave! Whenever people ask me for podcast recommendations, this show always makes it to the list! Hannah talks about her journey to self-discovery and her faith. Although she is younger than me, listening to her really inspires me to better myself, too. She recently posted though, that she'll put Kwentos with Hannah on hold for the time being because she shifted to a different show, which is the next one in this list.

Pause Cast

Yup! Another podcast show hosted by Hannah. This is quite similar to Kwentos with Hannah, but different at the same time. Haha I can't really pinpoint. Both shows are inspiring and chill, but I think Pause Cast has the vibes that makes you wanna rest and... pause. Hannah continues to talk about mental health, personal development and faith. She also interviews experts and/or more experienced people for certain topics. Guys, listen to this show!!!

Walwal Sesh

I first listened to this show when it was still fairly new. I got curious about it because prior to the making of this podcast, I once have attended Walwal Sesh live! Yup! Pre-pandemic, they used to organize live events where they talk about mental health and life. In the one I attended, they even invited artists to perform songs and spoken word poetry! It was sooo cool. Anyway, in this show, it's kinda the same. They talk about mental health and try to normalize things that are not openly talked about in public.

An Open Mind with Liza Soberano

This podcast is fairly new. As of writing, it only has 4 episodes. I bumped into this show on Instagram, when they posted a teaser of their first episode. Liza Soberano is the host of the show, and so far, in every episode, they have a guest. This show really helped me open my mind to other people's perspective and experiences.

Joel Osteen Daily Podcast

Joel Osteen is an American pastor. This podcast is like a recording of his talks. I really like listening to Joel Osteen because even though he is talking about God and His words, he relates it to our practical life as well. That is very helpful in making sense of what the Bible says. Even if you are not a Christian, give this show try because you surely will pick a thing or two from it.

The Bo Sanchez Podcast

Bro. Bo Sanchez is a preacher in a Catholic Community in the Philippines, called, The Feast. I'm kinda biased towards this because I was a very active attendee and servant of The Feast prior to the pandemic. I really love listening to Bro. Bo, especially during the live events! Aaaaaaah. I miss singing worship songs with the Feast fam. :( Anyway. The episodes in this show are just short, usually around 4-10 minutes. It's kinda similar to Joel Osteen's podcast, which talks about faith and how we can journey with God while still living our lives. :)

I feel like the common ground of these shows is that they touch on things about personal development, mental health, faith and practical life lessons. Hihi

There are still tons of high-quality podcasts out there which are worth listening to. I also have a list of the ones I am planning to check as well. Haha

That's it for now! How about you? What are your favorite podcast shows?

Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.

Great podcast recommendations! I listen to some of these as well although it's been a while since I listened to a podcast episode. Thank you for reminding me to go back to it. I learn a lot and also enjoy listening to podcasts. I even listened to Sleeping Pill by Inka during the quarantine to help me to sleep faster.

I am glad that this somehow served as a reminder for you!
Ohh! I have listened Inka before! I agree that her voice could really sound like a sleeping pill! Diba she had a thing before na she reads some poems or letters from her listeners? Sooo cool!

I think we have a lot of podcasts in common. I was so fond of Joyce Pring back then that I ended up fangirling her 😂 But there are a few in this list that I haven't heard yet. Thanks for the recommendations!

Omg! ❤ Joyce is brilliant!!
