A friend who died a few years back always reminded me that "If you can be anything in this world, be kind" But along the way of showing kindness and compassion to others, we forget to be kind to ourselves. We forget that the first person whom we should care about is ourself.
Healing my inner child!
People around me have used it more recently than in the past decade. I had a superficial understanding of it, maybe because it didn't resonate with me. I had to Google to fully understand what it meant. I came across this article by Time entitled Why Is Everyone Working on Their Inner Child?". Reading through it I was like "Ahhh, that's what people meant by this whole healing the inner child thing" I might not felt I lacked love, support or something else as a kid but I wasn't immune to life's equally devastating chaos in my early to mid 20s (or even recently).
Wherever you are in your healing journey, whatever you're healing from, whether it's a physical injury or illness, a psychological abuse or financial catastrophe, know that you are capable of healing yourself. With God's grace and mercy, one day you'll look back and say, "Finally, I'm out of the dark!"
But while you are here, acknowledge that some days you feel like life's a party while other days are grim and lifeless. That's okay; keep going anyway.
Don't be too hard on yourself if you feel like you aren't moving an inch towards the end of the tunnel, where all the light you need could be found.
You are braver than you can imagine. And whatever it is you're going through, you got this! It might feel like you're too far away from breaking free, but if you take it one day at a time, you'll get there. You'll get there.
Sending healing your way! :)
