Rivers have something that fascinates me. Whenever I see one, I wonder where the water comes from and where it is flowing.
Just like the sea, the appearance of a river and thus the mood can change constantly. Some prefer a calm slowly flowing river in which you can take a dip during these hot summer days. Other people prefer it a bit rougher, to go rafting for example.
Today I have 3 rivers from 3 different countries I´ve been to and all 3 are special in their own way.
Bellinger River in Bellingen, Australia
This is one of those rivers that you wish to have on your doorstep when it's hot outside. It is crystal clear, flows slowly and is flat which makes it perfect for swimming.
Sungai Telaga Waja, Bali
If you are someone who likes adventures this is your kind of river. This fast flowing river on Bali is perfect for rafting. Probably not at this section but there are several tour guides further north where you can book your rafting tour.
But I would not swim in this river for several reasons.
Neckar River in Tuebingen, Germany
This beautiful river called Neckar is the same that also flows through my hometown Stuttgart. But here in Tuebingen it is much nicer to look at. During summer it can get qite busy on the river as there are so many ways to travel on it. In a punt, on a SUP or in your inflatable boat with a beer holder on the side.
Every time, when we´re home during summer (unfortunately not this time) we visit Tuebingen at least once.
