Hi Hive.
I’m back with another adventure. This time we went over to Butterly Reservoir.
So we started the day at McDonald’s for breakfast, because why not? Of course the only suitable option to eat was pancakes with a toffee latte.
So we started at Butterly Reservoir, which is only a 20ish minute drive away from us. It is one of the many beautiful places that are in close proximity to us. To view is truly phenomenal. We started our little trek, and shortly decided that we’d venture up a hill, (which was very possibly a snake breeding ground but oh well 😂), and sat above the reservoir for a bit.
You can ignore the random sky picture if you like. I just saw and thought, ‘ooh airplane’. So as I said we up in this hill for a little bit before continuing our journey. However, it wasn’t long before we were distracted by a little stream. We probably would have continued onwards, but we saw a random can in the stream, which mildly infuriated both of us. I then just so happened to notice we could actually get down to the stream, so we decided to go get it. The stream itself was quite pretty, and made for some excellent photos.
We decided that we wanted to follow the stream up as far as we could, because adventure I guess 🤷🏽, and we climbed over a fence that we probably weren’t supposed to, but let’s keep that between us shall we 😂. We took many photos on the way up, and then took a very precarious route down. Monika lost her glasses on the way up, but found a ram sheep skull on the way down.
So, one skill gained, and on we went. Shortly we arrived at Blakey Reservoir. I accidentally excited someone as I bent down to take a picture; they thought I was going to propose 👀. Anyway, we continued on and found a little sandy bank to sit on for a little bit. We actually talked about coming back to do a photoshoot there, but that’ll be a post for another day. After stopping shortly, we then began the climb up. It was a long way, but the view from the top was worth it.
One we were at the top, we found ourselves in Wessenden
moor. Maybe 45 minutes after we started walking through the moor, my watch finally realised that we were outside, and started recording the walk 😂. It was at this point, that I thought we’d be heading back towards where we started; we were walking for at least another 4 hours…However we eventually reached Black Moss Reservoir, which then eventually started taking us back to the start. All in all, it was a really good day, even if I did forget that it was a most-of-the-day affair 😂. There’s still more places to explore there, and even from different starting points. So, stay tuned for our next adventure.
The place is breathtaking. Serene. If that is just 20 mins drive, I probably would go there once a week just to enjoy the scenery! And I like the stream you found too! You made me miss hiking now! By the way, you can actually pinned your travel blogs in pinmapple. Here is a guide on how to use it but you can still share your blogs in other communities.
Honestly it’s amazing, there’s so many places around us to get lost in! Thanks for the heads up about pinmapple, I’ll give it a little look!
