Sometimes I help people help other people with boats. Here’s a little story about karma. Always make sure you’re on the right boat.
This little story is related to the guy in a previous poat,
“Random Boat Incidents 1.”
Leon’s Thirsty Thresher
Leon and his crew started the morning with the correct boat box, yet grabbed the wrong boat. Thankfully, Ames was flexible. Unfortunately, Leon ran out of gas in the main channel, near the beginning of the Coast Guard station, and just outside the main channels wake zone. Leon anchored the boat and called for assistance. I estimate the call came in around 1:45 or 2:00 PM.
Upon hearing Leon’s misfortune and close proximity, Raven decided to help him. Raven asked me to assist and we grabbed the necessary rigging. We hopped on the lager Trophy boat and headed out to the location Leon described.
We found Leon and his boat safely anchored. With Raven’s expertise and instruction, we were able to connect the two boats safely. We towed Leon’s boat into the gas dock, and Leon proceeded to refuel the boat. While inspecting the boat at the gas dock, Raven noticed a strong fuel aroma. At that point, it seemed wise to discontinue refueling the boat. Leon paid for the amount he refilled and then proceeded to leave the fuel dock.
Upon his initial departure from the dock, he told us the engine seems to be struggling. Raven and I followed him as he slowly made his way back to the boat’s original slip. We arrived, everyone was cordial, there was no obvious damage, but the smell of fuel was abundant. The smell of fuel seem to be emanating from the main consul hatch, and the aft bilge.
