RE: Weekend engagement week 22 topic: An eye on your hobby

I bought my first computer, an Epson Equity 2 in 1980. I missed the entire Tandy/Radio Shack/Amiga movement. Probably to my detriment, because I didn't learn any programming skills for years and am still miles behind my peers.

I did learn to kick software around, and I'm a filing wizard due to thousands of floppy discs. I learned DOS commands and Basic commands and so MS DOS wasn't a big mystery to me.

But the Raspberry Pi has caught my eye for quite sometime, too. I'll look for your updates and stories in the near future. I don't use Microsoft anymore, I'm all Linux all the time. In fact, my laptop has never had MS on it, I ordered it blank.

If nothing else it will help relieve the winter it's to damn cold outside blues, and maybe prevent blue toe syndrome.

I get it. I'll probably wait until July to seriously consider a Raspberry Pi!

Sort:

I have been wanting to move away from MS and Google for some time, so I am hoping that I will be able to learn enough with the Rasp-Pi that I can start the move. But it has been a long time since doing any computer config files to get things to work, and it seems that everything boots from the memory cards, so that should make experimenting a lot less risky.

Moved to Linux in 2012. Best move I ever made computer wise.

All 5 of mine are Bill Gates Spyware free... Lmao

Only pewter we have with that virus ridden corrupt code on it is @pooky-jax's laptop. She has to keep that bloatware on hers for her work. And Microsloth Windblows constantly reminds us how much better Linux really is.

I am hoping to use it to try and experiment with a few different systems. I was one of the few people that like OS2 Warp. It is actually still somewhat available.

I started with Linux Lite. It is still my go to. I have different versions of it on my 3 laptops. Cinnamon is the best overall in my opinion. I have messed with 10 or 12 different Linux Distros.

I'm just an Ubuntu guy, have been since '12. I've gotten real used to it and not particularly interested in any other. It's one of those "If it works, don't fix it" situations.

OMG! How I wish I had an idea on this, I think I am really lacking behind. 😞
