It was the freshers welcome fair few days ago, which I found interesting, considering that this was my first time seeing so many activities at a freshers welcome. During my undergraduate years back in my home country, we literally had just very few activities for the freshers welcome, which is mostly competition...dance (the most common one), singing and should I say the most beautiful/handsome fresher, in turn called fresher of the year. However, attending the fresher's welcome here was really different, I mean I have seen quite a few of how it is done in movies and all, but seeing it for real was really amazing to be honest.
There was quite a number of people in attendance as you can see. We have different tables set up, with different group and clubs in the school trying to recruit new students to join them.
Here we have the Bhangra society. I heard it is a dance group with its tradition majorly from the Punjab people. I really find this interesting because, even if you are far from home...you still have something of your culture to remember home by, that is; for people from this region.
There is also the interesting Salsa society. Never really saw this dance from up close, so I might drop in on one of their practice session sometime...so if you want to join the society, then there you go.
Here we have the history society. If I was still an undergraduate, then I was would certainly fall in here because I studied History in the uni...so yeah, this would have been the society I would join.
There was also have a session for the university sweater and some other nice things up for sale, sadly not free hahaha....
This I like very much because it provides bus services to students at a discount rate, I mean who wouldn't want that.
There is also the Game house, where you have different kinds of interesting games. We have the Ping pong plonk, do not be deceived it is not as simple as it looks hahaha, well at least not to me since I could not get any balls in the cup unfortunately lol...I mean I tried but not one single ball, not fair.
Here is the Wheel of Fortune, which I like because I was able to win something hahaha, not so easy though...so many traps there. But I won myself a cute teddy bear...
What is a welcome fair without the goodies hahaha, there was literally a lot to take away, and for those in sale...it was at a discount price which was really nice. So yeah, it was a fun day at the fair, I most certainly enjoyed going there.
