Today we celebrate the birthday of our King Willem Alexander, again like life itself these days in a very different matter. Not celebrating in the streets with orange markets, concerts and other beautiful and great initiatives. Nope we are celebrating at home. As is the king with his beautiful wife Queen Maxima and three daughters. All these pictures are from previous years when they would go out and get in touch with the Dutchies.
It’s all enclosed at home this year due to Covig19. Normally the King and Queen pick out a city and visit there during the day. All one big celebration. I am a huge Queen fan and when I have the opportunity to see what she is wearing I am front rower. It’s even that bad the me and my collegues from sewing school go and look at all she is wearing and talk about alterations or copying it to a pattern we can use. From hat to shoes all is viewed. She is just such a style icon. Sorry I got carried away.
She is so sophisticated and she seems so nice and always cheerful yes I am a fan. He is also a very nice guy. With beard these days cause of corona and the fact hairdressers aren’t supposed to work. He sets an example and has a beard now.
This is what we eat ( the picture is from @vanwely bakery btw ) because while it’s still early and I am still writing this the sweets we are going to buy later. That’s tradition. You eat orange tompouce or pastry to celebrate this humble day.
I did put up the royal Dutch flag with orange pennant outside, we all do that on nationals. I did it before typing up this blog because this is also a tradition, and with the beautiful sky I think all together it’s going to be a good day. And made some nice sky pictures for clouds competition. And if you are wandering what we normally do there are so many you-tube video’s that you can watch. I will not be doing that. I will prepare myself now, will wear orange clothes and have fun. Not the normal with selling stuff at the garage sales we go to on this day but playing with the boys new train track and next year we will go out and find the kingsday gems again. Yes in the last couple of years I found great stuff selling for a fraction of the price. I will miss that. But a tompouce will make up for it. Maybe later I will post a picture of the pastry and of my outfit.

So much love for your King, seems like a very happy day regardless of the situation. I'll one day visit the Netherlands. I don't know why but Amsterdam has been a dream destination for me since forever.

The Queen and her children are beautiful! I did not know she was so young. Nice to have learnt something about how you celebrate this day in there. Have fun!
She is my age I think and our fashionista queen but always with a het to all dutch people ! She is doing a great job and her daughters and our king make a really happy family and a good pr for us all over the world
