Hello friends, Hope you all are well and enjoying your time.
Let's go back to ancient times for a while. When the civilization was not as advanced as it is today, people would go to sleep at sunset because electricity had not yet been invented. In addition, if someone's hand or leg was cut off or injured, he would not go to the doctor. They used to treat themselves for common cold or fever. And, that treatment was entirely nature based and empirical. At that time medical science was not as advanced as it is today. So, plants were the only source of medicine, what we call natural medicine today. Let us know today about one such natural medicine and that is the Tulshi (basil) plant.
Basil and its leaves have been very popular as a natural medicine since ancient times. Its effectiveness is therefore the main reason for this popularity. This use is especially high in Southeast Asian countries.
The basil tree is not very large in size. Its height varies from a maximum of 80 to 100 cm. Although the trees are quite small in size, they are covered with dense leaves. The basil leaves look like the pictures below. I took pictures of this leaf from my rooftop garden.
Basil leaf juice is quite effective in cold and cough patients. I myself have used it many times and found an effective solution. I have two kids. Normally, kids suffer from common cold frequently. For this reason, I have planted few Tulshi plants in my rooftop garden. My son has been suffering from cough from last few days. So, today I brought some Tulshi leaves from the plant and made juice from it. I gave my son this juice. The most interesting thing is that this juice gives immediate relief.
There has been another very important use of basil leaf and that is with tea. Basil tea is quite popular now. You will now find different brands of basil tea in the market that are made from these basil leaves.
Whenever I get cold, I make Tulshi tea and have it for two to three times a day. I prefer to make it with the green leaves rather buying it from market. To me it seems pretty authentic.
Of course, I used to added some more ingredients with Tulsi tea, you can understand by looking at the picture below.
Now the way COVID 19 patients are increasing, mixing basil leaves with tea will protect you from the common cold. Some other benefits of basil leaves are that they will help you work better against diabetic and hypertension. Basil leaves also help to keep the skin good and smooth.
If we are using basil leaves and other natural medicines for our minor ailments then it is very good because natural medicines have no side effects.
Thanks.
Stay safe and healthy.
