In your older son's comment, he says the teachers beat them; is that true in Malaysia? When I was in school, I got paddled every grade from 1st to 6th grade! :)
Thank you @free-reign. Yes, canning is rampant especially in Chinese school in Malaysia. It is still happening in government school but lesser compared to Chinese school. Somehow, parents also succumb to the idea that the children needed to be disciplined that way. Only a minority are against physical punishment and we do not have the stronger voice.
Ah! The caning. I remember there was some American that was sentenced to caning several years ago and it was the top news story for a while, but I can't remember what country it was. I believe they went through with it despite the protests from the west.
