It is always great to have a creative day that has no hiccups, obstacles or frustrations. Today was one of those days. This may seem like a somewhat odd post on my profile, as I have not shared this sort of thing with anyone here before, but it will soon become a regular occurrence, as I have decided that I have no interest in creating a separate blog space again to share creative adventures. Hive is my blog space! It has been for a very long time now, but I suppose sometimes we need to remind ourselves that our blog feed IS in fact OURS and we are entitled to share whatever we please on it.
After 18 years operating as a designer and running a design and print business, I took that hat off entirely 3 years ago. I suppose, having operated in such a highly pressurized industry for so very long, I reached a point of no longer wanting to do it. In a manner of speaking, my creative well had run dry.
However, having said that - a little while ago, I decided that I wanted to get back into the creative field - and so I have, only this time it is for myself, rather than for clients.
I considered creating an entirely separate space for this, but I already have a lot on my plate and that would simply give me even more to do on a daily basis - making it damn near impossible to get to everything I am passionate about as well as everything that is required and needed of me as a mother.
So, here I am - for the first time of many to come... sharing my creative adventures, designs as well as - YES, the products that I am creating and selling. I hope you enjoy these little snippets from my every day life as well as the creations shared!
Outside of my usual morning activities, which consist of my 5km on the treadmill, doing laundry, getting Jude settled into school work for the morning and my "dailies" on the Powerhouse Creatives Server - I kick started the day with a healthy but very yummy plate of munchies.
Who says a healthy brunch does not have to be tasty! A little while ago I discovered the practically carb free Provita crackerbread range. I especially enjoy the rye ones and after 16 hours of intermittent fasting a good substitution for bread is an absolute heaven send!
A wafer thin slice of cheese, juicy red tomato slices, cucumber, finished off with a few rocket (#arugula) sprigs and a boiled egg. Take a look at the nutritional aspects of each of those ingredients - especially the arugula and tomato and you will soon discover what super foods they both are! And this little plate of awesomeness will keep me going until dinner time. After that, it was time to get the creative juices flowing.

Morning Dew Collection

I spend a lot of time collecting and browsing colour palettes. Different colour combinations will appeal to me on different days and wil very often set the tone for what I end up designing - unless I have already got some inspired idea in my head, ready to roll. Today, this was the colour palette of inspiration
My mood today was inspired, but relaxed. The calmer, more muted tones spoke to me and I knew I want to do something dainty, elegant but also with a little bit of "fun". Florals with just a touch of geometric was where I headed...
I always find it amusing when I think how other people perceive what others "design". Something so simple that looks like it did not take very long to create can often keep a true artist fiddling and adjusting for hours (even days) on end - until they are absolutely 100% happy, lol! Today, the flow was smooth and I actually didn't fiddle that much at all... it simply came together seamlessly. Have to love those days! This is a copy of the final design / pattern...
