RE: My Hive Dinner Party Under The Stars

Nothing nicer than mixing together outdoors, skokiaan would do the trick quite admirably.

Most would need two to three months exploring this land if they really wanted to see it all, a good weekender would be a great starter...

Louis Armstrong - Skokiaan (South African Song)

Hahaha, the skokiaan will certainly loosen the tongues and the stories will become legend.
2-3 monthes will only scan the surface from Upinton to the Cape and then up to Messina, then tipping back from St Lucia down the south and wild coast back to Cape Town. Much in between will be missed.

We have a German couple that live here for 6 months in summer and in Germany for 6 months when its winter here. The guy complained to me that South Africa is too big for them to see it all.

Blessings and thank you for the song.

Lived here all my life, seen a lot, still not all. Augrabies Falls Northern Cape into Namibia still to be ventured through.

South Africa is a tourist dream value wise, if locals meet visitors at airports taking safe routes with no surprises it could be great fun....

Oh yeah, I have travelled far and wide Lady Joan, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho and for somec starnge reason haven't done Mozambique. But then again our business was stainless steel dairy plants. Then we also built a fertilizor plant in Port Louis, Mauritius.
So yes, this old horse has done some miles, but now I long for the backroads to all of the little towns that we skipped in between.

There are 155 towns in the Western Cape Province and I have maybe only been to 15 of them, so there is a big mountain to climb. Thing is our car is not very suitable to dirt roads and I have to make a plan for an old 4x4.

South Africa is indeed a tourist haven but I would advise every tourist to only travel with trusted locals.

Blessings!

So much to see locally one does not need a passport nor all the paraphernalia required, a good 4x4 would do the trick with road being what they are.

Visitors to our shores most definitely need to have a trusted local taking them around, life is not what it was alas....

Bright sunny day here, lovely weather!
!LUV to get you through the day....

Had some rain this morning and you guys should also start cooling down that side 🙂

Yep, a 4x4 will do the trick as then one can see things far and wide and with a good guide it could be a very pleasant experience. Luckily I am my own guide, but don't know how I will get along with a crowd 🤣

Some !LUV also to you my friend.

With light snow on the Berg we had some lovely days, a fair amount of rain to wash everything clean again.

A work associate (hobby, lepidopterist) traveled from Durban to Lake Victoria, Tanzania/Uganda and back without a puncture. Three man sleeper on top of the van specially designed for the three months of travel in 2003, said it was a trip of a lifetime just before he retired.

Travel is fine once outside the cities, OK off track again, yes crowds is why a braai makes life easier to take short breaks, listen to the evening, or chat in smaller groups for short periods.

Great that you also had some better days and we are clear here this morning.

Yes, we had a friend, in fact the husband of our Papillon auditors that had a group of 4x4 friends and they travelled far and wide on excursions every year. Right up to Egypt the one time and many other places. Always full of stories and that is surely the way to go.

Ha, I will never live in a city again my friend, as it simply cannot compare with the rural towns.
A braai is certainly nice for a get together now and again.

Blessings!
