You are 100% correct in what you say. The "do as I say, not as I do" mentality of leaders of churches all over the world has lead many blindlessly to follow the person. The Bible teaches us to "beware of false gods".
Also, you don't have to go to church to worship.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say you have to have a one-on-one relationship with church leaders. All you have to have is a personal relationship with God.
