left you unsheathed, bared and vulnerable
to the whims and yearnings of Anubis
the dark one reaches out
you protest with impotent resistance
he offers insistent intimacy
the thirst for moonlight brims
mutual desire must be quenched
Snow White, fallen before
the charms of caesars and princes
fade in the shadow-spill
of Stygian ink
dream darkly, fair lady
this is but a Duat visitation
drink it up
Red Riding Hood
has beaten the path
follow
Rapunzel’s shorn gold locks
have flattened the meadow
lay back
the Persephonic mesh
for Sleeping Beauty …
while onyx reveals the stars
you belong to the night
It has been a very beautiful Autumn so far in Vancouver. Bright, crisp, and colorful. It was even nice enough this Wednesday for a midday picnic with some wonderful company.
We did however have to keep moving the blanket to keep up with the sun and its play among the shadows and upon the mirrors of the Coal Harbour façades.
The warmth needed some chasing.
Eventually it was get up and move ourselves or slowly freeze to death.
And that is the thing. Sometimes there is no escaping the dark and cold. They get their time. If there is no shadow season, there can be no sunny side of the street. No sunrise or set. There can be no spring or summer.
Contrast is what gives us selection and choice; it is what paves out the Way to experience itself. Avoid feeling like you are being laid out, cemented, and trodden upon yourself ... by learning to play in and out of shade and sparkle in the same way solar rays do.
Embrace your shadow self, but keep her vibrant and carefree; she does not make your decisions. Remember to set an alarm for sometime in March for the return of your brighter and wiser ways.
