Today technically was my 8th day, but with the new week comes new questions and expanding on learning this type of divination as a whole. Moving past the simple task of recognizing the symbols and their basic meanings.I reported [Day 5](https://hive.blog/hive-109288/@barracudadiaries/5-days-of-runes a couple days ago.
So day 6 I pulled Mannaz. This was a good one to pull Thursday as I continued to wonder if I was doing the right things to move forward. I have the feeling that I am pushing very hard to make things happen, but not taking enough time to remember to rest. Let things play out. It was my reminder to not push too hard.
Saturday, to round out the first week, I drew Opila.
This was a bit confusing to me. Which is when I realized the book I'm using is perhaps not the best.
This rune is actually called Othala or Othilla.
I can understand the misinterpretation, having studied a tiny bit of Icelandic. With the Elder Futhark being of Scandinavian origin, there was probably a little backwards 'p' or some such letter that was just transcribed as a 'p'?
All I know is that every indication elsewhere calls it 'othilla/othala'.
The reason for my inspection, and first cause of confusion, was the fact that this book delegates a different meaning for this rune, depending on which page you look it up.
Ugh.
So the chart says 'separation'.
The reference section that further expands on the meanings and such says that it's one word meaning is 'inheritance'.
My further research points towards the inheritance meaning. source
However, when think also of the larger meaning, separation could also be a way to see it. When we look at the thought of heaven on earth, is it not a separation of the spirit world as we live here on earth?
I don't know, maybe I'm reaching. It is all for our own interpretation, after all, isn't it?
The point of the story is really what I got out of the reading/pull.
Where the question of the day is a simple 'what do I need to focus on today', I always find it interesting.
I do my pull pretty much when I wake up. By 6 am at the very latest.
So I have a full day to consider it's message. This week I think I will revisit my message before bed. See if I can make any connections with it once the day is over.
Without going too deeply into the details of my life, I take the Othilla (that's what I'm going to call it from now on) to have me focus on the things my husband and I have, rather than putting all my energy into wondering and worrying where we'll end up.
Live in the present and find the joy.
For reference, this is the book I am using.
I bought it locally at a metaphysical boutique. It was about $20. It came with the rune cards (the photo of the Othilla rune image). I did buy a set of runes (the only ones she had), for $13, as well.
