Mixed cropping is good but also has it own side effects. Most of us go into mixed cropping because it saves more land for us but for one who understands what agriculture/farming is all about every plant should be planted separately to help their growth. When it comes for garden of vegetables many gardeners end planting almost all the vegetables in one small portions of land. Mixed cropping is good but should be done with caution not more than two crops. Those of us who wishes to go into mixed should reduce the crops to two and the type of crops to be mixed is also very important.
Let me focus in gardening of vegetables because this is the area where mixed cropping is common. Because most gardeners doesn't have money to secure enough land for their gardens they end planting all vegetables to any small portions of land they managed to have. I have seen a garden environment where the gardener planted African pumpkin, water melon, waterleaf, and yam. I looked at the garden to see more than five crops and our of three crops from others are not supposed to be planted as mixed cropping because their growth keeps coiling to attack other crops.
Water melon, African pumpkin, and yam are all coiling specie which can affect the growth of waterleaf, and greenleaf so if such a mistake is found with yam the gardener can easily control the coiling movement growth of yam in a garden with the help of rops and trees but for melon they'll end killing any nearby crops or vegetables.
To achieve the planting of many crops enough land is needed where most of the crops can be planted without affecting others. All a gardener or farmer need to do is to divide her farmland to all the vegetables or crops to be planted. A gardener who wishes to plant more than two crops will have to cultivate her garden by session and each of the sessions should be planted with only one vegetable. We actually need to check those garden we planted one vegetable to see how good they usually look. Those crops or vegetables planted on their own usually look more healthier because they don't divide their food gotten from the soil with any other crops rather than their type.
The important of having our crops or vegetables planted in a big portion of land is to have them divided in sessions and also help the gardener easily monitor the garden. The only thing that's needed in such big farm is to make sure they're secure because harm from people will surely come.
