HELLO HIVE
I woke up these morning and after doing one or two things went to my poultry birds cage to feed them only to find out that one of the birds was dead causing a huge concern to me because I don't really know if it is just a one off thing or if it will affect any other bird, what makes it even more disturbing is that I only saw some symptoms yesterday before going to bed only to find the dead bird this morning.
The fact that I saw it yesterday morning thou not in good condition ,it walking step is not like that of the rest and it from there I knew something is wrong with it.
And I later went out to get a drug that I usually add to their water only to get there this morning and to my surprise it is only to find it dead among the others
There are so many causes of poultry mortality
Mortality in birds can be as a result of diseases such as avian influenza, Newcastle disease and coccidiosis and each disease have high mortality rates
another possible cause is predation where wild animals that can cause harm to the birds find a way to sneak into their cage especially at night.
Poisoning is also another possible cause and it is most times unintentional from the part of the farmer.
Environmental factors sometimes the environment can be the cause of these, which I strongly believe cause yesterday that I got there the place was wet due to rain and I cleaned it before feeding them.
I have to keep on observing my birds keenly and so far non has shown any symptoms.
Many of such situations is the issue with me not engaging in poultry farm this days. I which you well for other birds to remain healthy.
I just hope it works well with the others
