HELLO HIVE

Spices are a very essential part of our food, most meals are incomplete without spice they are good sources of minerals and vitamins with varying taste in the meals we make depending on the kind of meal we make. Pepper is one hugely common spice and it all boils down to cost, history and importance in so many meals down the line of history. I like pepper a lot and the the quantity that I use to add I my meals can be shocking sometimes but that is mostly due to the environment that I grew up in, The Yoruba cultural community in Nigeria take add a lot of pepper in the meals and it is like signatory of their tribe because it is really common amongst them.

I have to cultivate what I like to make sure I have it in stall all the time and pepper is one of them though I don't cultivate it much it is just a little portion and am good except for years that I have used it as a big source of income, harvesting it has been a big reason behind my decision to reduce the length of cultivation. I do the harvesting with my hands and after the work I have to go through a tough night before the pain that comes with touching this spice finally subsides.

Seeds are gotten inside the fruit it produces and the fruit has to mature properly to ensure that the seeds are matured too, for red pepper I have to make sure that the fruit is fully ripe that is the fruit has completely turn red then I can harvest the fruit. To remove the seed I make use of a small knife to cut the fruit into halves and then I can remove the seed from within and that is if I am dealing with a freshly harvested fruit but if it the seed is dry then pounding the dry fruit will be better.

The seeds from the fresh fruit has to be dried a little before storing or planting it if it is time to plant.
